You can always get stuff cheaper elsewhere. The best deal for me is using their card Visa and trading the points for hunting licenses. It is dollar for dollar. . . I get all my licenses free every year.

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

All of the bog box hunting stores seem to have the same boring selection of hunting clothes, everythign you want as long as its either Realtree or MossyOak camo. I guess thats a result of the cable TV hunting shows.
The camo doesnt bother me that they are always the same, it is the scent lock crap that I cant get away from.  I have to search high and low in there stores to find some regular camo clothing!

You know it's funny.  I've been to Cabela's several times and I think I've only bought 1 or 2 things there.  I get that desire to go there, then, when I'm there for a little while, I'm ready to go.  I spend more money on gas to get than I do anything else.

I agree with everyone else

Here was my experience.

Super excited to go after being drug through every clothing store

First stop: Bargain cave-bunch of stuff but I am XXL Tall so none of the clothes fit wear size 14 boot so none of the boots fit, of course no trad archery stuff

Second stop: Archery section-only 4 inch feathers, dont need new tab, 125 grain broadheads are so last year. LOL

Third stop: Camo-once again XXL Tall, "but we can order it for you"

Fourth Stop: Reloading-Obviously I am the only person in the state that shoots a 25-06

Ohh Well still fun to look at all the stuff and wish.  The bad thing that I didnt add in my original post is that the wife and daughter both found items they could not live without.

Oh squeaky treestand, how I hate thee!

I think the most fun event at a Cabelas would be a 3D shoot on the Cabelas Mountain.... great idea for a St Judes fund raiser .... the one I go to is two floors so you would get all the angles ... now that would be fun !!   :jumper:

elkken, I've thought the same thing. I find myself walking around the mountain, mentally picking a spot and letting fly. I must be actually raising my arm and drawing the string back, cuz people look at me funny.

Then, they have that creek full of fish. I envision shooting them with a fish arrow and watchin the water fly!
...stood alone on a montaintop, starin out at a great divide, I could go east, I could go West, it was all up to me to decide, just then I saw a young hawk flyin and my soul began to rise......
