Today, I scratched my Savannah. I put on a new rest, and it had some leather hanging over the shelf. Like an idiot, I said, "Hey! I bet some sandpaper would take care of that!"   :knothead:  Because of my awesome sanding skills, I now have a scuff on my bow. I put some Tru Oil on it like I did my recurve last week but the perfectionist in me is saying I'm an idiot and just ruined a very nice bow. Do any of you get like that or am I being to anal?

don kauss

now you don't have to worry about scratching it...
Your Chicken from McDonald's, Tyson Foods, or Perdue Farms spent most of it's life stuffed in a cage with three or four others, occupying a space about the size of a book page...None for me, thanks...

beaver#1

well of course you ruined it!!!! good thing i collect ruined bows.  so send her on over.  :bigsmyl:
and don kauss,  i will have nightmares about your avatar tonight.  where did that thing come from

Man, I dunno, it shoot's very nicely... Just not sure I can stand the site of her now...

I'm still trying to figure out what that thing even is. It's got a baby in the middle!

start moving up grits til you get to 2000 hen oil.  are the scratches really that deep into the wood or is it just the clear coat

Nah, just the clear coat but you can see wher I got it, it's all shiny, and then it's kinda dull in that area.

joevan125

I wouldnt worry about it one bit, now its broke in and you want babby it. Now take it out and get deep in the brush with it.

Bows that are used kill more game than ones that are taken special care of. Hunt with that sucker and get it bloody.

One thing I just realized to is that that part will be covered with grip tape...  :knothead:

yah if you want it shiny again i might try clear fingernail polish. just an idea.

Do you think it'll stand out from the rest of the finish? I'd say the normal finish is kind of satiny. It's not real shiny, but you can definitly see the sun off of it.

lpcjon2

If you go to a nail salon they could get you one with a satin look

The scratch is on the grip? If so, just put on a Sur-Grip and it will be covered. I have a Sur-Grip on my Savannah and it works great - especially when the weather is warm or when it's raining.

I'd say it's not salvageable but to keep you from feeling badly just send it to me and I'll dispose of it for you,.... just because I care...lol

Did you but it to use or look at? If you bought it to use, that probably won't be the only scratch you ever see on it.
