I posted on another thread about the Bear Cub I got for my son for $25. It is a 43#'er and a bit heavy for him to learn trad hunting, but I couldn't pass on it. Now, I'm a bit bummed as the "before" pics my daughter took didn't turn out, BUT the yellow/cream portion of the bow was really marred up with scratches,marks and discolorations. A friend of mine paints at a fancy lighting fixture company and painted the Cub up for free. We were originally going to paint the entire thing black for ease, but decided to keep the riser looking original as it was in good shape. It took him some time to tape, but here is the final product.

What do you think? The black is a very, very tiny metallic that can really only be seen in sunshine - we didn't want it to turn out gawdy. My son was pretty excited!

It really looks like an entirely new bow.

I think Fred would give a big grin at that one! Looks slick as an otter slide, very nice work.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Well, it is officially my 15 year olds first bow. There will be a "you never sell this bow" stipulation on it. I see to many "I wish I could have my bow back" threads here - lol.

I have to low poundage RH bows coming soon that were inexpensive and beat up for my 17 year old and I to work form with and after this - they may be getting a paint job as well.

Thanks for the compliments. I really didn't think it would turn out this nice and smooth as he got it. It is automotive paint with a clear flat over the top of it.

Great paint job to say the least!!

Cub's are super shooting bows. I have a few and my kids each have one and they are an enjoyable bow to shoot.

Always enjoy seeing the lefty Cubs (don't see too many) I am sure your Son will love it.

Ahh..the "lefty" means unfortunately my 18 yr. old and myself can't hand anything down to him - lol.

Yes, my friend really went beyond what I thought he would do when painting it.
