Silence is golden.

Isn't 60% a D- and only ~.00000001 above failure?

BTW, ground squirrels aren't chipmunks.

LongbowGuy83

According to Wikipedia a chipmunk is considered a ground squirrel. Besides, thats as close as I will be able to get here. Cut us some slack, man.

That's true and I tend to agree with you on that. But hogs are on the list and they are by no means found in many parts of country, including the Pacific Northwest where I live. I guess it just shows that it's difficult to come up with a universal list that applies to all regions of the US and Canada. [/b]
I agree. I'll just go with Dudley's decision and go for a passing grade. Good luck everyone. [/b]
Since the hog requirement eliminates about 2/3 or North America, perhaps the rest of us should instead substitute a different kind of boar: a black bear.  :D

Oh boy. I can see we are gonna end up with about 30 animals and just choose which ones we want to shoot.  :biglaugh:

People have to travel to take the real Super Slam so you might have to move around to take the Not So Super Slam so quit your whining and start hunting.

I am going for everything on the list that is in my backyard.  If I'm lucky, I will get to hunt hog out of state.  Don't think I will be lucky, but maybe  :)
So far in 2010 I have the turkey and squirrel.  My whitetail came in 09'.
For ground squirrel, I'm going for groundhog!
Good luck everyone!
Katie
Do we add pics?

No, it's not that at all. Hogs are primarily found in the warm weather states. Because of that this list is primarily geared to those that live in those regions. This NSSS thing actually sounds like fun and I'm certainly willing to go with the current list regardless of the fact that the whitetail and hog requirement atomatically eliminates many of us from getting all of the animals on the list.

Easy to say since you live in one of those southern regions and don't have to travel far to get the hog and whitetail requirements. But I'm thinking you might feel just a little bit differently if, say, grouse were on the list and you had to travel a thousand miles or so to get one.

I got everything except the coyote, ground squirrel, and fox. Where I hunt, I have a chance for the coyote and the fox, but I would not have a clue where to go to get a ground squirrel.

Seriously? I thought squirrels were just about everywhere.

That being the case, if you can live with squirrel requirement I can certainly live with the hog requirement.

It's idiotic arguing over silly things (and, yes, I'm pointing that finger at me). Let's go have some fun!

Alright Guys, remember this.  It is time for the NSSS to start.  We need to add alot of pics to this one and track progress.  I think it will be a fun and challenging adventure.  Good Luck and Git' em!!

If you change the ground squirrel to groundhog I only need to get a coyote and hog, but it has taken a long time to get those others-don't know if that counts.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

John Scifres

Is this a lifetime thing or are we starting now?

If I shoot a squirrel on the ground, is it a ground squirrel?

Have you set up the challenge and arbitration panels yet?

Where can I get some sponsorship for my NSSS quest?  I'm broke right now.

That figures, WTPOPS, that California would be populated by squirrels that cannot climb trees.
 :biglaugh:

You're populated by a lot of other wierd stuff too!!!!

well ive killed everything but the hog fox and the yote..we dont have hogs here so im screwed in that department

Michael Pfander

I think you need to add ground hogs/marmots.  That way the east and the west can both be represented.  I vote for deer as well.

I just need a hog, and that'd cost more than a two week elk hunt for me!

Or, are we starting fresh?  post photos of each kill...

Yep, if we can substitute ground hogs for ground squirrels I can definitely nail that one down.

chopx2

Does it count if the ground squirrels are behind high fences...doesn't seem like fair chase to me.

No offense to you squirrel ranchers.

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow's effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs
