Hey guys, I have noticed that some people prefer recurves with belly mounted limbs like the Black Widow PSA's and such. I was just wondering if this design has any advantages or disadvantages over the limbs being mounted on the back/front of the bow. Thanks guys

it seems to me that with the handle out front that it would be harder to torque the bow when shooting  it also seems that the limbs would not have to work as hard since they don't have as far to go.  Eventually I am going to build one with the limbs on back, just seems like a good design to me. I does seem like there would be more stress on the limb bolts though, but Black Widow and others don't seem to have a problem with that.

Usually you get a higher brace height.  The top of the line belly mount limbs give you equal speed with a higher brace.  Some of the best bows out there are Widows, Habu, Swan, and Kwik Stik. They give you smooth draw, less stack for the length.

It also gives the bow a shorter power stroke, which means that the shaft has to be stiffer to compensate. The force is applied more quickly, so the shaft absorbs the full power of the bow more quickly.
