Just wondering what type of bh sharpeners you guys take with you in the field for touching up 2, 3 and 4 blade bh's. Or do you even bother touching up the edges when out in the field?

I carry an old Bear carbide sharpener in my wallet. Usually a pocket steel in my pack, and either a KME Broadhead or Knife sharpener at camp.

NDTerminator

Carbide pull through (I like the G5) and a small leather strop.  With this combo I can bury a Magnus in a clay bank, then have it ready to kill & back in the quiver in well under 5 minutes...

got me some diamond-coated sharpener-plates, the size of a credit card, one fine, one medium, onerough; They do the job so well, even on three blades, i wont use or need anything other, and that for aprox. 10 $ at th local building supply.

Small file, a good one (3 rivers).

Back at home I use the KME. It is the best, but it is too bulky to haul around in the field to do touch up jobs on broadheads. For carrying in the field or other times when you want to go very light, the best sharpening tool I have found is the Klawhorn Redi-Edge Broadhead/Knife Sharpener. I got mine from Cabela's. A small, high-quality mill file is helpful in repairing the bevel on the broadhead if it has been somewhat damaged, and then the Redi-Edge can be used to finish the edge and get it hunting sharp again.

I keep a Rada sharpener in my daypack. If you turn them around backwards you can use them on three blade broadheads as well. This sharpener works well on knives also. One thing to consider though, they do remove a lot of metal, so premature wear may be an issue for some. I picked mine up at a rural grocery store for $3.99.

For touching up my Terminators in the field I use a fine DM,T credit card size, diamond hone.

I want to thank you all for the KME reference.  We not only provide sharpening systems but we also carry a bunch of components for all kinds of blades...knives...and components.  We love to help anyone that has a question or difficulty getting things sharp...we can help ya.  Just drop us an email or give us a call.

NY Yankee

In the field I would just have an Accusharp tool for my 2 blades because they are so light weight.

I presharpen everthing at home and carry a 7 arrow quiver full of razer sharp heads. If a need more than that I think I'd just call it a day.How ever there is a #6 mill bastard lile in my pack that I don't think has ever been used.

KME for home and camp- just got one and can't say enough good stuff about it- and a fine Grobet 6" file in the field. Grant

My field kit contains the following.

1. 6" Grobet file.... smooth cut.

2. Small diamond hone

3. Crockstick

I work my broadheads to razor sharpness at home on my KME so mostly all I need for field touch up is the diamond hone or crockstick... the edge has to be pretty beat up before I need to use the file.
