About ultra cam material.

I was running the stock string on my 60" 54@28" Schafer TD recurve.I think it's a 14 strand D97 Flemish.Switched over to an 8 strand Ultra cam endless.

I can't believe the difference.Like I added 5#'s to the limbs.My POI at 15 yards shifted about 4"'s higher.

I'm sold. Won't use anything else.    

Anyone else liking this stuff?

so, you haven't tried a 6 strand df'97 string, yet?   :D

Sounds like quite the performance boost...did it quiet you're bow any?Been thinkin' of giving these "skinny" strings a try myself...can I ask you where you got it or did you make it yourself?

I recently built a 8 strand ultracam flemish to replace the 8 strand D97 and saw some performance increase as the arrows are in tune with longer silencers (heavier) than on the D97, same location. Of most note was the smaller amount of stretching/creep as the new ultracam string settled in, about 1/8", and it has not continued to elongate like the D97 did for a while. It may be just me but the bow noise is a little deeper pitch so sounds quieter to me.

Tried 6 strand D97 for a while but broke one out of four in mid draw so upped strand count to 8 for a little extra insurance.

If you're using it on a recurve you MUST wool wrap the ends where it contacts the limbs.I tried a couple shots without and it was like I had no silencers on the string.    

Personally I don't think my bow is much quiter than before,but I only use Beaver hair or cat whiskers on my bows.Other materials may quite it down better.

Hi All,

Sounds like the hoopla about fast flight strings when they came out.  What are the chances of damaging your bow with the new string???

i spin dyneema'02 strings (same exact fiber as df'97).  8 strands for my main 55# hunting longbow and 6 strands for the 50, 47 and 45 pound longbows.

for me, there's no questioning the benefits of 'skinny strings'.    

I'm partial to the Ultra-Cam myself. I like 8 strand for 50# and up and 6 strand for less.

I don't see any chance if the bow in question is rated for FF material.

I put an 8 strand on my recurve.  Major difference.  I don't wanna go below 8 strands.  It's a 53lb. bow.

14 to 8 strands on any modern material should show a difference. Duh,so what are the Benefits, Gentlemen? I'm not trying to be an A##, but what?

Speed? Rod Jenkins says you can gain 6-12 ft. a sec., keep "Pulling thru the shot"!
