Been thinking about making some new arrows and had a question. Do you prefer to do a crown dip with paint, or just use an arrow wrap? Or nothing at all? Was gonna do a dip but it seems like if I do a wrap or nothing at all, it'll save a few more bucks... Thanks!

The arrows all fly the same. But I'll do no cap at all before I'd use wraps. I feel they abrogate the skill of a well crafted arrow.

I like paint on wood arrows...and wraps on carbons.

Sounds like you are making up some woodies....if so, again, I like paint.

Decide on what you want....and go for it and enjoy the journey.

I prefer a stain or a dye to paint, but paint's not bad.  Staining the front of the shaft and leaving the "crown" natural looks pretty good, too.  Wraps aren't a consideration for me.

Wrap for carbon paint on wood.

I prefer paint on woodies, but you just have to experiment and find what YOU like best, after all you are the one who's shooting them.

I like paint on wood and wraps on my carbons and sometimes aluminum.

I've used paint on aluminum and wood.  Wraps on carbon and aluminum. Each has worked fine.

If I want a cap, I prefer paint - for everything - wood, aluminum, and carbon.

My enthusiasm for wraps has diminished as I have had more challenges with wraps in extreme conditions, but there are A LOT of people who find them effective!

Wraps are alright.I use them on my carbons and aluminums(strictly white,though)...although I've used paint on them before.Woods deserve paint or a nice stain,IMO

I like a good lacquer crown dip, which ever color I choose and then go over it with clear coat,

I use paint for wood and wraps for carbon.Sometimes I`ll use wraps and paint on carbon arrows.I`ll paint the rings in front of the wraps.

Okay thanks guys. I have an idea though. What if I tape off the 10 inch part at the end that I want the crown on, and then stain the rest of the arrow the color I want. I let that dry. Then I stain the last 10 inches another color. That way I could see the grain. Would that work, or would the colors bleed even if I let them dry? This is what I wanted to do in the beginning but thought it wouldn't work. Easier than paint because stain could be wiped on whereas paint needs to be dipped or sprayed...

It'll work.I've done alot of woodies with 2 differant stains.The 3rd from the left is a 2 stain arrow. Ebony and cherry(I think)
