I see a lot of people prefer the Montana Pitch blend for waterproofing leather archery products and was wondering if the paste or liquid works better and which is more user friendly ?

I have used the paste to successfully salvage a shooting glove.  Stuff is WONDERFUL!  I haven't tried the liquid, though I have a bottle on the shelf.

Like everyone else, the paste is what I've used also with good luck. There is another brand called Obernaufs (sp?) that most of the high end boot shops around here recommend. I started using it a couple of years ago and really like it a lot. It is available in paste or liquid and again, the paste is all I use.

I use the past, I find the product is really good and so pleasant to smell.

Paste for me too. I use a small cloth and apply to a warm boot. after I am done, my hands are just great. no more chapped, dry skin.(for a few days)
Love the smell also.
Obernaufs(sp?)is good too.

Have used the paste for at least 10yrs or more.

I have never used the liquid but hand rub in the paste and it liquidizes with body temps so it is virtually liquid when applied.
 Also, Montana Pitch Blend is not a waterproofing. It is a leather conditioner and helps leather repel water. I don't know of anything that will make leather waterproof and you don't want it completely sealed because it has to breathe or it will rot.

I agree with Pat.  Great for soft leather like a shooting glove.  I used it on my leather boots too.  But then after it soaked in for a few weeks I went back over with SnoPruf.  Not nearly the sealer a heavy wax is, but good stuff all the same and used as a pre wax conditioner makes a lot of sense.

Is Sno Seal similar to Montana Pitch Blend? If not, what makes one better than the other, in your opinion.

I have a couple pair of leather, Gore-Tex boots that are in need of something. The leather is beginning to look dry and scuffed.

I've used and been happy with the Montana Pitch Blend paste as well. Especially like it on my leather boots. With that said, after visiting with several outstanding saddle makers/leather workers I have started using Canola oil on my  archery related leather goods. It's cheap, odorless, dries quickly,and lubricates well. The professionals tell you to save your bucks for something else. Canola oil is what they use.

 Sno seal is a Beeswax base waterproofing paste.

I use both.  For leather that needs a really good conditioning, like it has been dried out or abused, I first apply the oil liberally.  I think it penetrates deeper and faster to get the leather softened.  After an overnight, I apply the paste for further conditioning and protection.  Works for me.  

Never tried the canola, but stands to reason that it would penetrate.  For mud and snow, I would still want a beeswax based top dressing, though.  I have some bear oil and beeswax paste that works also.

Montana Pitch Blend is all natural materials; mink oil, bees wax and pine pitch. I believe Sno-Seal has silicon in it and I have heard it blocks the pores and prevents the leather from breathing. I don't know this for sure but I have never used Sno-Seal.

I use both.  The liquid works great if the leather is dried out and really needs "nourishment" (one time I used it to restore my son's baseball glove, which had been left outside in all kinds of weather for several months; it was good as new!).  Once the leather is restored, I use the paste for waterproofing.

Don't know it for a fact, but I heard that sno -seal destroyed the stitching of someone's leatherwork and that it doesn't let the leather breath.
I do know that pitch blend is great stuff and has never hurt anything that I have applied it to in over 13 years of using it.
