Both of my bows are 50@28. I would like to work up a few lbs but 50 is working very well for me right now.

Used to be 83#@29 until a friend made a offer that I couldn't refuse, now it's 63#@29 and that'll probably be about it since I'm getting older.
Lefties are the only ones who hold the bow in the right hand.

65#- 72#. My primary bow is an old T/D with Brandon Stahl limbs, 67@28. I draw 29" for about 71#. I'll drop a few lbs. one of these days but all my ammo-and there is a whole lot of it- is with these weights in mind. I'm fifty-five now and I know if I drop 10# it'll be tougher to go back up than it would have been fifteen years ago. My arrows are 2317s, 29.5". Not to drag this out, but I believe about any thing, poundage-wise, can be effective as long as the shooter has the skill under pressure to make the shot and enough confidence in himself and his equipment to close the deal. Great trophies have been taken with forty-five pound bows (and less) as well as ninety pound bows. I'm afraid that the rule of thumb when I was young was "as much bow as you can comfortably and accurately shoot." I still think its a pretty good guideline, but in the end it's probably more psycholgical than not so far as the shooter is concerned.  GY

Well.... 63#@31.5" but lately I've been experimenting with a more "traditional" draw. Then it would be 60#@29.5", and 57#@29.5" on my short bow.
Thunderhorn Coup Stick 60" 54@28
Brad Moore t/d recurve 62" 60@30

I primarily hunt with a 58# Dale Dye (at my 27" draw length) and shoot carbons 11-12gr/#.
65# @ 27" Dale Dye one piece recurve
62# @ 27" Dale Dye TD recurve
58# @ 27" Dale Dye Medicine Point RC
65# Montana Bow Works long bow

Brad_Gentry

I've got 'em #55 to #65, though I shoot the #65 the best (and it's most comfortable to shoot). Got an #80 on the way, but it hasn't been determined yet whether it will be hunted with, or just end up an "exercise" bow.   :archer:

Jeez Richie, are you trying to shoot multiple deer at once?  ;)

Buckeye Trad Hunter

All of my bows are 50@28.

seabound

I like 50@28, but my draw is closer to 29.5.

Arrow4Christ,
Yea I have only been able to get three to line up at a time.  That fourth one is always the hard-headed one.

No....I just really, really like the power and fortunately can pull that weight. However, I do realize it is not "needed" to kill game.  It is amazing how well the 1000 grainers fly with the 31% UEFOC and really quiet.
