All,

I have been using gloves for the last 3 years or so, but i'm looking at trying a tab out. I currently have a cheap one I played with a few years back, and I am currently borrowing a Black Widow 3 Under Tab.

Question 1: What types of tabs do you use, and where do you buy them?

Questions 2: The BW Tab has threee layers (Leather, Felt, Felt) between my fingers and the string. I want to try a Single layer of Cordovan Leather Tab. The only ones I can find are one piece (like i like) but the single layer has a hole cut in it for the middle finger. I prefer the finger loop coming out perpindicular from the back surface. So the Tab stays flush with your fingers and not hanging down.

Anyone know where I can get one that is like this that is a single layer of Cordovan Leather?

I use a Cavalier cordovan tab, after years of using a glove.  For me, it took a commitment and a lot more tinkering than I care to do, but I finally got the hang of it.

3 Rivers sells them and E.W. Bateman. The Bateman has a rubber layer but you could cut it off if you dont like it.

I think Bateman has some of the best tabs on the market.. Here is a link to their website

you need to try a Cavalier tab been shooting a recurve off and on 40 years. will improve your shooting if you take time to learn how to use it with a deep hook. to the second finger joint,,your release will become smoother..

I Shot with a glove for the better part of 50 years. I went to shoot at a friends and forgot my glove. He let me use one of his single layer cordovan tab. I've never used a glove since. I keep trying because I have a drawer full of them but I can't get the same clean release as I can with a plain old cordovan tab. The other multilple layer taps don't work for me at all. Even with bows in the upper 60's the single layer tab is all I've ever needed even when shooting all day.

I like the SAM tabs from 3rivers. Double layer of leather, but I always trim one off. They last a loooonnnng  time!

Hey Matthew I just asked the same questions a week ago and just recieved my bateman tab.and i realy like it but it does take some getting used to and the bateman tab is first rate Philip

I use a Bateman cordovan tab and a Cavalier Elte cordovan tab.

Check Bateman--they are the best and they have all styles.

I've been a diehard glove shooter......but about a month ago, I tried a tab for the first time.  I didn't care for it.  Last week, something made me give it one more shot.  This time, not so bad.  I actually noticed (as did another shooter) that the bow got quieter on the shot.  Not what I expected.  My groups shrunk...again, not what I expected.  Maybe there's something to this 3under approach!

Anyhow, to say the least, I've been reading all the recent posts on 3under to glean as much useful information as I can.  Ain't this site great!!!!!

Bateman codovan tab, don't waste your money on the others. About when you get the others broke in they will tear up. A Bateman takes a licking and keeps on ..........

Eagles Flight archery makes cordovan tabs. Never used one but, their quivers are first rate so I would imagine their tabs are too.

I used to use the claf hair tab that 3 Rivers sell for about 7 bucks.....they're ok but not very durable. Then I tried the all leather model...same tab but with a rugged leather facing and the thing is great. No break-in period and it's durable...same price. I think 2 of them will last me the whole year.

QuoteAbout when you get the others broke in they will tear up.
Sorry, but that doesn't always apply, at least concerning the Cavalier.  Rod Jenkins shoots more than anyone I know, and he showed me one he'd been using for...four years, I think, that was still going strong.  That was after hours and hours of shooting every day, 7 days a week.  He probably shoots as much in a year as most will in 10 years.  Mine has several hours of shooting behind it--nowhere near as much as Rod's, but a lot--it's doing just fine.

I don't doubt the Bateman is a great tab, but any tab made from a decent piece of cordovan leather should last a long time--it's just hard to wear that stuff out.

Another good one is the Soma Saker.  I took the attachments off the one I tried.  Still went back to the Cavalier.
