Prayers for you and your family(dad too). I hope it turns around quickly for you but in the meantime take your wife's advice. She sounds like she has her head screwed on right. You're a blessed man!

I've been there.... twice. Both times after the age of 50. You have the most important thing to deal with this...a supportive wife. Things happen for a reason. Keep the faith and things will all work out. Good luck and may God bless you and your family.

Worry...what worry? Sounds like your main objective for the next 10 days is stocking the freezer.
I got it last March after 31 years in the same industry...and guess what? Chances for employment in that industry for someone my age are slim and none.
It is a liberating opportunity. The last 10 months have been the best since I was in college.
The Bible says that worrying about tomorrow won't add one minute to your life and I believe it. All worrying will do is ruin today...and possibly distract you when that deer walks by.

I changed careers in my 40's. It was the best thing I ever did.

You're doing the right thing taking a couple weeks off- no one is hiring right this minute anyway, but in a matter of a few weeks, things will start moving so you're timing it just right.

Good luck

You are lucky to have a good wife! (so am I)  That said, hopefully losing this job will open up some new doors!  Good luck and hope you get some good weather to hunt in.

Hot Hap

good luck both on the job hunt and vnison hunt!! Seems companies have no loyalty to thier employees anymore. I was let go that way years ago, took my yearly vacation and came back ready to work, 10 minutes into shift boom... 200 employees were let go.

Deffinately start looking now tho - i have a feeling with the way things are it will be hard to find a job. Hopefully they did you right with severance etc, get unemployment started immediately. Best of luck!!!

Man, that just plain blows. Sorry to hear it, I sincerely hope you find something soon!

Sorry to hear of the troubles for the New Year. Glad to hear that your family is okay, and that you are out stocking the freezer. The woods has its way of nurturing your spirits and will help bring you back where you need to be. Good luck and many prayers and blessings to you and yourn.

Treestands are a great place to contemplate, Good Luck.
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish, goes home through the alley.

Owlgrowler is right. A treestand is the best place to plan your next move.
