It looks like 2010 is off to a rough start! Yesterday my Dad had a small fire at his home. Not a lot of damage but it's never good! Then today I return to work after a two week vacation to be told that "my services were no longer needed". 14 years there and thats how they choose to end it!

On a high note though it looks like I will have 10 solid days to hunt whitetails here at the end of the season! The wife said I can worry in a treestand just as easy as worrying anywhere else! I'm a lucky man to have her! I'm looking forward to putting a little extra venison in the freezer over the next 10 days or so!

Happy new year guys and gals!

Sorry to hear about your dad and your job, but it will be the norm soon I think by all predictions out there.

That's why I have multiple income streams. No eggs in one basket.

Sounds like you have a great home life and wife and that's where you need the support right now.

Hang in there and email me if I can help ok

That sucks. Things can only get better. When one door shuts another one opens. Hope you find a better job....

Man you have a very supportive wife.  She is right.  You will be fine I'm. For the next few days take care of the task at hand, pick a spot my friend and follow through.

Stay positive and keep your wits, relax it will all work out.You have some time to hunt and work on your Dads house. Its good to see your wife is not going into the panic mode....It may have been for the best, you never know.....Good Luck!

Oooh. I was with a company about that long, and that's how they "downsized" me!

Don't let the blues hang out in your hat, you have a wonderful family and this might be to your benefit, as it was to me. Sure didn't seem like it at the time, and I thought the new work was gonna kill me, but it has evened out a bit and the sucky parts don't suck as much anymore. I'm a lot stronger now than I was then.

Hug your wife and shoot straight. We are all behind you as you work this stuff out.

I hear ya brother! I got laid off from a place I worked 10 years in March of 2009. I had all of 30 minutes notice. Got a part time job in May, got laid off there in October due to lack of work.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, friend. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. I mean that, too.

Good luck with finding a new job- got to be better than the last, hug the fine wife and go hunting.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Hang in there!  We are behind you! Trad hunting is a good release, as well.
