What are you go to do to get in shape? Do you have a program that works, one that would help others?

I am 5'9", 166 lbs and 67. Blood pressure is now normal, heart rate is good, working on lowering my cholesterol by increasing foods that lower bad cholesterol and more exercise. Stretching, walking, jogging, biking, and adding weights. I have been taking Glucosamine for a knee injury and it is helping with all joints. Just recovering from a hernia surgery and ready to get back at it. I like to exercise 30 min. 5 days/wk. min. But I am tired of the rain.

I thought we had to put weight on to stay warm in the stand...LOL I chase my kids around and do lots of scouting on foot.

20mg Policosanol tablet 2x a day lowered my cholesterol 24 points this year. You might give that a try. It's over the counter vitamin supplement.

My dogs are looking a little thick so I'm probably not getting enough exercise. I will do it for the Dogs!   :jumper:

Watch what you eat, do 30 min. of some type of cardio daily, light wieghts to tone not to build and get out side as much as you can. Bike, hike jog, stump shoot and just stay active....you'll be fine in no tme at all!!!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

I heard an old saying " you are what you eat" hmmmm that would scare most of us wouldn't it.

I believe you "are what you absorb". Many things we eat that are good for us just don't absorb...many vitamins and supplements are like that. I get all of mine in a juice supplement and it tastes great.

anyway I agree - eat right - chew your food well - steam vegggies - get regular exercise and do some light weight training and just be active.

I started yoga this fall just to get my body stretched out....I was having trouble with real stiff joints. I play a lot of tennis and hockey and it tends to tighten things up.

Anyway - stay healthy everyone it's all we really have and when we don't have it we would give anything and everything to get it back.

Exercising everyday can hurt more than help.  Every other day is better, it will allow the muscles to react and heal a bit from your workouts.

#1....Don't be stupid and hurt yourself.  You didn't get out of shape in a month or two, so you need to be level headed about getting back into it.  If folks just took one hour of television time to use a treadmill, or take a walk down the road and back, they would see a difference in no time at all.

If you think it's too cold outside to walk or shoot, then you are depriving yourself of great exercise and some fun.  You can adapt quickly to the cold by dressing properly and staying on the move.

Drink water everyday, and cut out the soda...especially diet soday with aspartame...that stuff is nasty...Google it and read about it.  If you must use diet drinks get the ones with Splenda in them.
