I have several Flemsh strings around the house .. how do I tell which one's are D50 or FF material? Just want to make sure I don't put a FF on one of my older bows.

B-50 has larger strands and feels softer, sometimes fuzzier at the twists. FF and other modern materials have small strands and a sort of hard or stiff feel. These are sort of small differences and you may not be able to tell without some experience.

Thanks for your help ... I'm sure I can count the strands to determine as well, 15 should be D50 and 18 should be FF? I don't have any "skinny" strings around so that should work too.

No, number of strands isn't the factor.  It's the diameter of each individual strand that is different, and of course smaller diameter strands make a smaller diameter string.  You almost have to see them side by side once to see the difference and know for sure.  A good archery shop should be able to tell the difference.  If you are uncertain and have a bow that should be using dacron your safest option would be to buy a new string.  There are a number of people here that make great strings.  Oliverstacy has provided me with some great strings lately, and there are others as well.

you can stretch b50

Trapper .. you got it. This morning I thought the same thing so I strung the bow and rubbed the string with a piece of leather ... heated it up and it stretched easyly .. B50 ..bingo.

Just try cutting some of the loose edges at the loop with a pair of scissors.  FF is very tough to cut.  You can also tell by simply strumming the string; pull it back about an inch and let it loose, it will stop suddenly and not vibrate nearly as much as B-50.
