Lost draw weight

In my search for "The Bow" I purchased a Robertson Vision Falcon. I love the bow but the limbs it came with were a bit too much poundage for my shoulder so I traded another Trad Member for his. They fit the bow great but I have come to find out that my riser was longer than his so my current string is to short. I measured the bow; the belly side is 62"s grove to grove 64"s tip to tip.

The original set-up was 60" 53@28. My question is How much draw weight do you think I will loose with the bow now being 2"s longer because of the riser. The limbs I traded for are marked 60" 48@28. I can't put the bow on a scale as I don't have a string long enough to fit yet.

I don't know for sure but on a Bear takedown,limbs that go 50# on a riser that makes a 56" bow,become 48# on a riser that makes a 60" bow.Probably 1-2# less?

You will lose more than a pound or two-more like 5; but the important thing will be how they feel and shoot. That Falcon is a great bow.

I would think around 3-5#, they are awesume shooting bows. Let us know what the weight goes to when you get the sting on her.

I guess 3-5# as well. That's what it was on a couple of Bighorns I had several years back.

usually riser length is about 1 # to 1.5# per inch. Limb length is a different story.

I was kind of suprised. I didn't know that there was more than on riser length on these bows. I ordered a string. I'll post the results when it get here. Looks like my shoulder is going to get a big break

Coaster,
There is 2 inches difference between the SRV and LRV risers on the Vision Falcons you will have a 62" 45# @ 28" bow with the limbs you have.

Tater, both the bow I owned and the bow I swapped limbs with are marked 60"s, so not only the riser on my bow is longer but the limbs on the shorter riser are longer, Right? Wouldn't that make this a 64" bow? If this is true now what would the draw weight be? Man I wish I had a string !!

Well the first Type of Vision Falcon had the riser of 17 3/4" then the LRV version had the 16 3/4" riser with the shorter SRV being 14 3/4". The new Fatal Styk has the same lenght as the LRV.So you can call limbs #1 on a old riser make 60" on a newer make 59" and on a shorter make 57".Limbs #2 60" on a short riser make 62"on a longer riser and 63" on a older model.I hope it is clear.

I put the limbs to the test today as I finally got the new bow string. www.SBDbowstrings.com
Pierre makes a dandy string. I was really suprised with the speed (chronograph) I got because as you folks have said I should be around 45#s at 28"s?

Shooting my 577 grain, 55/75 GT trads, 23.4% FOC(250gr. adapt and broadhead), at my 27+ draw averaged 161.7 for 14 arrows. I don't have a bow scale so I don't know the draw weight but with my Abowyer Brown Bears I think I'm Hog ready?

Swapping my 54# limbs for these Lighter ones worked out great. Sure feels good to shoot with out pain!!

Sorry to butt in here, but this has been a most interesting exchange. I used to swap limbs and risers all the time with my BWs and metal handled Bear takedowns. I always liked how they shot with the longer setups, when I used a longer draw than I do now. I wonder though will the myrtle on myrtle longbow I have on order from Robertson, still come out to be 51 pounds at 26"? This variable weight thing has brought up many old questions that I had not thought of in 30 years. Kinda makes me wish I could still shoot recurves again, ah, what am I thinking that longbow form is grained in way to deep for me to change now.
