Cabelas sells a fabric called "Micro-Tex." It is tight spun/woven poly. Anyone test for uv brightners in this fabric?

George D. Stout

This UV stuff gets a bit silly.  I don't wash my hutning clothes in special detergent, and I certainly haven't spooked any animals with my clothing.  I think the notion just gives folks something else to blame for not seeing game 8^).

And, no....I haven't tested it, nor any other stuff I may buy.

benny

No it doesn't. I really like the stuff. Only draw back is beggers lice really likes the stuff too.

Micro tex is about all we wear for hunting clothing. The 'lite' version for warm weather and the 'regular' the rest of the time-great stuff.
One of the best values out there.

swampthing

Definately would not mind spraying permithrin all over the stuff, would never do that to my wool.

wingnut

on recommendation of some real good backcountry hunters, I totally reoutfitted with Microtex.  Looking forward to getting it in the next day or two.

I've had some camo that pretty much glowed in the dark, so I know what they meen by UV.

I've been using Microtex pants for the last 8 years or so.  No glow, very little fading, just a good piece of hunting wear and reasonbly priced.

Don't know anything about the UV thing. But I use organic laundry soap for everything including my hunting clothes. Micro Tex clothing is bulletproof.......been using it for years.

I've been wearing Microtex for years and to me it'd be tough to find a better material for hunting clothes.  It's quite, tough and dries super quick.  Never had a problem being spotted and this includes stalking mulies above timberline.  In fact, I think their Outfitter pattern is very versatile and just the ticket for high country hunts in CO.  Priced right too!

I have both the regular Microtex and the Microtex Lite XT outfits...never had a noticeable problem.  I'm with George on this one, I believe the UV thing get's hyped way too much.  Too many people kill deer every year wearing the clothes they were wearing to work in that day, smelling like exhaust, non-camo, other scents, and UV brightened.

Microtex is the best thing next to wool.It lasts a long, long time standing up to a lot of abuse.I wear it for turkey, waterfowl, deer and anything else I hunt.Ive never UV tested it but I can tell you it doesnt spook game anymore than any other fabric on earth.I think Elvis could have taken game off the ground in his gold lamey and rhinestone suit if he sat still and kept downwind.
