I finished up another 3 piece longbow last night. She's a looker too! Cocobolo riser and limb veneers with Zebra and Macassar accents. I'll get her sprayed today and maybe some pics over the weekend If I can get help posting them.

I just received a Buffalo bow just before going on vacation.

She's 62", 60@27", coco/osage. (on BigJim page)
I too have small hands, and this bow has the best grip I ever shot.

One thing you really need is the beaver tail grip.
Easy to shoot is an understatement, (I hunted her on the second day I had her) fast like I can't believe with my tapered ash that weight around 760grs

BigJim is as stated before a true gentleman and an asset to the trad community

I had a group of guys here shooting bows today and for the fun of it we broke out the chronograph. I shoot a 785 g arrow out of my 86lb (9+gpp) bow scoring in at 195fps several times. Shot the same arrow out of a 53lb bow (that equals almost 15g per lb) and still came in at 157fps.
Now I want to exclaim that speed is not what I'm after, but its nice to know that you can weight down your arrow to what ever you desire and not have to worry about being able to out run it.

get that website working so we can look!

Did I miss something here! I didn't know you made a 3pc Longbow? Man that has to be screamer and a great shooter. The 1pc bows are fantastic! you won't go wrong with one of Jim's Bows.

I would love to see pics of the 3pc

Rob..

BigJim

rraming- we are working hard on the website. but for now, we have a page up at our site that has several pics of some fairly recent bows that I have built and sent off. Take a look.

Rob- I caved to the pressure! lol. I'm actually enjoying building them. They do shoot extremely well, But when its all said and done, I prefer the lines of a 1 or 2 piece longbow and probably always will.
I am going to have some pics of one I'm finishing this weekend up soon. I lost all of my old pics when my site crashed. My personal computer crashed at the same time roughly so I had no backup.
Just like starting new!!!

I bought my Buffalo Bow in Ocala Fla. Last Feburary. 50# @28" and 64"NTN. For Me, my best two shooting bows are the Big Jim Bow and an Assheimer that's a 54# bow. Both are dead quiet  and no hand shock. Donnie is Osage and Big Jim is Cocobolo.
At first I had trouble with the Buffalo bow grip but that was due to me being a rookie at this archery thing and now I prefer this grip. Shooting a longbow is different than a recurve and this grip works just fine.
Jim is easy to deal with and when you purchase a bow from him you get a thank-you note from his nice wife. But they won't clean your deer for you, so you're on your own there.

BigJim

Ribeye- I'm glad to hear that the bow is doing well for you. The grip thing is always a topic of discussion. If you are shooting a bow that your comfortable with, then it would take a little effort to get used to a bow with a different grip. I don't know that I have a standard grip since I try to make them in accordance to the info I get from the purchaser. If however you buy one off the rack, well the grip is made generally to somone elses specs and I missed weight on it. My grips evolve as time goes on because of the way my average customer request it.
Understand, that if you order one though, I will try to get it as close as possible to the way that you want it built.
Ribeye, hope to see you at the TBOF shoot again. It will be their 25th aniverserary and promises to be a good shoot.
thanks,bigjim

Well I couldn't take it anymore. I've been wanting a good 2 pc for awhile and have been going around and around about who to build it. I talked to BigJim last night and I'm now in-line for one of his fine bows.
BigJim it was a pleasure speaking with you. (Dan Albright)
