How do you tie a string nock, or where can I go online to learn how to tie one ?  I don't like brass nocks on my string. Any help would be much appreciated.

Lets see if I can explain this.

You start with a overhand knot (I take the tag under twice as it helps the first knot stay tight a little better)

Then take the tags and tie another overhand knot but on the opposite side of the string just to one side of the original material.  Continue with a series of overhand knots each alternating on opposite sides of the sting, and right next to the last bit of material until you have approx 3/16" worth of knots.  Now tying off is something I still havnt mastered, but what I do is tie 2 back to back overhand knots (again take the tag thru twice) and cut the tails off with approx 1/4" left.  

If the material is B-50, you can take a lighter to the tails and as they burn almost to the end, press them with you finger so they "melt" onto the knock you just made.

I tie a clove hitch first then wrap it to the size I want, tie a few half hitches and finish it up with a square knot. A touch of fletch tite or super glue and I'm done.

I do it just like over&under works every time.  I melt the ends with a match.  Never had one move but, I usually put a drop of super glue on it once it adjusted.

instead of doing as lip knot....I do a double half hitch to finish....cut the tag ends about 1/4" then burn them down.   Once they form ball (and it's usually on fire), wet your finger tips and stroke them down towards the bottom of the nock (assuming you tied going from bottom up, reverse this if you tied the nock going from top to bottom).  

It's a much easier finishing knot and it keeps the nock smooth.

fwiw: I taught myself to tie them using unwaxed dental floss. It's very tough and easy to work with. After establishing a base wrap, I dab a little clear nail polish on it...then wrap several rounds...another dab of polish...and repeat until the size suits you. Finish with a simple slip knot and final coat of polish. If you have any bumps or tags, trim with a razor blade.

Done this way, I get a hard and durable nock set that lasts the life of the string...and it doesn't eat my tab like those metal ones did.
