Anyone know how to dye feathers. I've tried markers, paint, layout fluid...none of them worked at all. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks!!

I used some of the Great Northern dye to do some feathers, they came out great.

Put 3 cups of water and 1 cup of vinager in a ceramic container and bring to a boil. After its`boiled add a pack of Koolaid( lots of colors to choose from) remove from  heat source and submerge all your feathers in the sloution for 10 mins. Remove feathers, rinse them in cold water, and place them on a paper towel to dry over night.  Bill

I have used the koolaid as well. It is fairly cheap and works well.

Havent tried the Kool-aid but have used a similiar concoction but used RIT Dye instead of Kool-aid with great results.

Rit dye works great. I've found, you don't want to put feathers in boiling hot water. I've used just hot tap water with vinager. You just have to let them soak alittle longer.

I too have used RIT dye with good success

Another rit dye user.  I put the jar with the feathers in a pan with water on the stove and heat teh water to just under boiling.

Does the vinegar smell dissipate ? I know when I do Easter eggs the smell stays for a while.

if you use koolaid make sure you buy the sugarless kind.   NEON food coloring by mccormick is readily available at most grocery stores and you can mix your own colors.
