I store some of my bows in my garage, wrapped up in wool. Temps can get as low as 20 degrees. Is it harmful to my bows.

Don't think that will cause you any problems.Keeping them in there through really hot summer days is worse.

Nope, stop and think there are guys all over the USA sitting in tree stands or driving with Trad Equiptment well below those temps. Heat is the killer can cause delamination. I keep my bows in the garage year round. 2 nails in the wall and hung by the string horizontal. I also usually shoot my bows a few times a week no matter what the weather. Just so my muscles know what to do when I go to draw back and anchor.In Jersey we do our Winter Bow get together and Drive hunts. Last year one morning a State Trooper stopped and said to us you guys are xxxxin' NUTS! I think it was 5 below. We saw/pushed  deer that day too.

I knew about heat ruining the laminations wans't sure is repeated exposure to cold would do anything.

It won't hurt them! Believe me...up here in Canada we get our fair share of cold (much colder than that) and it had never affected any of my bows. I really don't think there is a need to worry.

Our cold weather experience is probably much the same as Mr. Manitoba Stickfinger.  Never had a problem due to the cold.

Cold shouldn't be a problem.  Here in upstate N.Y. I shoot pretty much every day in the winter.
0 degrees won't hurt the bow.
I would be more worried about the bows being wrapped in wool. Could it hold moisture?

I/ve also wondered about shooting in extreme cold ie -30. Even if it's cold, I still try a fling a few to stay sharp (which some days is pretty dull LOL). Years ago with a compound, my limbs developed surface crackes in the glass which I was told was due to the cold.

So far I haven't experienced any problem with my long bows.

Do any of you have any definitive answers on this?

what about bringing your bow from the house to the outside? i keep mine in the basement and i'll go out and shoot in 20 degree weather. so far i've had no problems but i was just wondering.

I really don't worry about shooting the bow in the cold, more worried about storing the bow in my garage, which is attached to the house.

as long as your bow does not have any bad finish spots where it has abosorbed water your fine. If the wood does soak up water you could in theroy have a problem after some time of freeze and thaw reactions.
