IMHO I see them as apples and oranges so I can't compare. Now if you had said Thunderstick I, or II, or III I might be able to help.

Not sure of treadway bows as I have not owned one, but I have had quite a few of Jim's Thunderstick bows. Very nice indeed! I owned a Ramhorn 1 piece recurve, wish I still had it--The MOAB is all it is cracked up to be as well. Very nice line up.

I've got a Thunderstick on order, but can't decide between the TSIII and the MOAB.

Bowhunter4life

Almost exactly what limbow said!  I've owned a few MOABs and still have one and have another on order.  I've owned a couple of Mags too, but like the MOAB better.

Can't compare for you as I've never owned a Treadway...

Here is the MOAB I have now...

58", 59# @ 29" and has an Osage riser and Tamo Ash veneers... The one I have on order has an Osage riser with Bocote flare, and Cherry stained Curly Anigre veneers, 60", 70# @ 29"...

I have a Treadway Black Swamp which I love and a thunderstick III that I really like also ,

my treadway is 58 AMO and the thunderstick is 64, so yes , they are completly diferent bows, but both are smooth and fast,

the treadway is a small bow but shots like a big one and is extremly fast  smooth, go which what you like , i think you will love them both,

The thunderstick is a more classic RD longbow and the treadway has a trapezoid deflex design

Good Luck , keep us informed

I have never shot a Treadway, but the MOAB is a great bow and Jim is a fine man to deal with.

I have not shot a treadway, but have shoot all the TS bows.  I have had a couple TS III, and a MOAB.  I have shot some other MOAB's and a couple Mag's.  The MOAB is the one I like the best of the bunch.  If you want short the mag is probably what you want, but if you can go up to 60" I would go with a MOAB over the Mag.

not exactly sure on pricing,  but a year + wait.  He doesnt have a web site, you call him, he puts your name on his list,  he calls you when your names up to start the bow etc....

the longbowkid

is the mag as fast as the MOAB?

Jim's MOAB is slightly faster than his other models. The mag is a short bow, the III is a longer bow. You will never look back if you buy a MOAB from Mr Reynolds.

BRITTMAN

Ive shot both the Treadway and the Mag . The Treadway was the more quiet of the 2 and the Mag was the smoother on the draw of the 2 , speed and looks were about the same . Both are very nice bows so you wont go wrong with either of them .

Any opinions on the 62" MOAB?  Jim said that I would need a 62 if I went that route, or I could get a TSIII.  Choices, choices....

Mudd

I have owned several of the bows Jim makes, in fact all but the MOAB. I take advantage of ever opportunity I can when the chance to shoot more of his bows presents itself. Why? Because they are just fun to shoot. They hit where I'm looking.
Once I figured out it might be ok to give a testimony about Jim and his bows I just had to jump in.
Thanks for reading. Good luck on your search.

I recently acquired a MOAB and am very pleased. It shoots very nice and the craftsmanship is great. In the Aug/Sep 2005 issue of Traditional Bowhunter magazine, Blacky Schwarz has a review of the MOAB.  Unfortunately I have no experience with Treadway bows. Good luck with the bow you choose.

Anyone know if the thunderstick is cut to center?

bretto

BDan, I just recently traded for a MOAB. It is 60" and I am drawing it to 30" and I love it. I shoot 3-under and don't have any problems with this length bow.

hawk22, My MOAB is not cut to center maybe a 1/8th shy.

I just got my MOAB in a few weeks ago. Now mind you, I'm a recurve shooter but wanted a longbow in my arsenal. Jim worked with me and I had my MOAB cut past center like a recurve. This way I can go back and forth from my curve to it. It shoots really well and is smooth. I've shot the mags and MOABs and like the MOAB better.
