an electronic caller by fox or lohman(sp) they are hard around here to call in. they are smart. i'm going to try and trap a few this winter. good luck.

I still use my old Burnham Brothers Long range rabbit in distress call. Works real well on both foxes and coyotes. Not sure what other brand mouth calls are available, if thats the route you plan on going.

I've found that coyotes that have been hunted hard responsed a lot better when using a howler.  Almost everyone uses a rabbit in distress call and get smart real quick.  For fox just about any distress call will work.  With electronic calls I've had great success with bird distress sounds.

A rabbit on a string staked to the ground works...LOL

I think I'm going to team up on these critters. Have a caller and a shooter, maybe even a decoy of some kind. What'ca think???

Most any pred call will work though technique is important. Easier to scare coyos away than call them in. IMO electronic calls work best especially for 1 person. They are expensive!

Ron I use a decoy of some sort. Even if it is just a feather on a string blowing in the wind. And I use howls, and bird distress the most.

Have fun

I've had the best luck around my area with howl calls.

Well, Ken's a pretty good caller, and I do a pretty good dying rabbit impression. There ya' go Ron; got yourself a caller and a decoy right there...

Are you guys using any blinds or are coyotes scared of blinds?

ron w

This is all new to me ,so I'm not sure if I'll use a blind or what.

cottontail or woodpecker in distress works great for me!

BDann

Check out the Haydel Government Hunter Cottontail.  Nice, raspy sound and easy to use.  It's also got a squeeker on one end.  You can get some pretty nasty sounding calls going by blowing on one end, and when you inhale, the other side will sound off too.  My all time favorite.

Ghillie and a gut pile you are unaware of. Had one to ten feet and still closing when I looked behind me and we saw each other.

Primos calls have always worked best for me, I've never had one that didn't sound good. Mouth calls are cheap so buy a few and see what you like. With a rabbit in distress call make it sound like the rabbit owes you money, and put some emotion and fear into it.
I didnt miss, thats right where I was aiming
