So the kids got me a JoJan Left Helical fletcher for my birthday.  Well I followed the directions, though when I do adjust the shaft holder to the left and the nock holder to the right the the feather is not flush with the shaft, I tried adjusting in the opposite direction and the feather is still not flush with the shaft.  I was able to adjust it so that the shaft holder was to the right and the nock holder was slightly to the right and the feather did fit flush and I was able to fletch several arrows, but 1 in 3 the tail end of the feather does not remain glued.... Anyone else have this problem and figure out a fix for it?

Fletch tape will cure your problems!

assuming you're using left wing feathers...I let each feather sit in the clamp on the arrow for at least 15 min. I use duco on wood and fletch tite on aluminum...fletch tight platinum on carbon or NPV works well too. sometimes I use a couple rubber bands to put some downward pressure on the JO JAN...on a Bitz you get some down pressure from the magnet...you might loosen both the front and rear adjustments..and while both are loose; dry fit a clamped feather to a shaft...use a light source to spot any gaps between the shaft...adjust and tighten ...happy fletching

a machinist friend of mine had to do some work on his to get them all to lay flat.  He also noted not to mix the clamps once things were machined.  I'm not exactly sure what he did to his but since it has worked great.

Don't seat the feather in the clamp all the way to the quill.When you glue the feather run a small regular screw driver along the quills lip and it should seat just fine.Hope this helps.

Fletch tape is the BOMB! On aluminum it holds as well as or better than glue and it cuts production time to a few minutes per arrow. A dab of glue on the ends of the feathers will help prevent lift off.

I just filled it with bare shafts and placed empty clamps then moved the front and back adjustments until the clamps sat on the shafts.  It ended up being almost the oppisite of what the directions said.  Leaving the feather so the quill is about 1/16th out of the clamp helps also.

I Have a left helical Jo-Jan and I am with Joseph. Opposite of what directions said here too.

I just set it so there's very little offset and let the helical do the work.

Fletch tape doesn't cure everything.  I used a JoJan Multifletcher for decades and it works very well.  You must adjust back and front a little at a time until you get the feather to sit on the arrow flush.  It really isn't that difficult.

I had the same problem with mine and this is exactly what I did.

I  had the same problem and did as Joe and others said...It does take a little playing around with the fit and I have two Jo-Jan multi fletchers and both had to be set up opposite of the directions...My clamps are all left wing and so is my feathers and if I made a product like the jig I would of corrected my directions by now...Once you set it just remember if you make up tapered shafts or parrells to always reset the clamps and different sized shafts also need to be checked for proper fit before glue up...I also make sure the quill is below the clamp and do a dry run and check before glue up...Keefer's <")))><
