Glad you listened to your wife, got checked out and did something about it, we should always check out the little aches and niggles. Those of us that don't  'drop off the perch'.
Hunting was hazardous, but at least it guaranteed the freedom of the individual.

There is no doubt that the onset of farming saw the end of leasure for the majority of people, who were destined to toil in the fields.

David, hope you are doing well.  It's no longer 'macho' to ignore even the slightest aches or pains;  And most of the time we are totally unaware of heart conditions.    Enjoy the holidays.

What vermonster said.
I had my pre rockie mountain stress test on aug 19TH 2009 everything went great.
Went to co. in mid sept, camped out for a week just taking in the country-short hikes and the like.
Went to the quarter circle ranch on the 20TH to start the real hunting with the Judsons.
THat morning going up the mountain chasing a bull I had a chest pain bad enough to take a nitro.this was on sunday morning ate 6 nitros sunday night, scared to go to sleep.
Next morning i tell my hunting partner Ralph Morita  i was sorry  but take me to hospital in gunnison.'thanks ralph'.
I spent 24 hours in the hospital in gunny.
Next day we packed up and made the 14 hour drive home got home in the earley am.
Checked in to the emergency room at st. johns hospital about 10:30am  was out of the heartcath about 1:30 my cardioligist says you had 2 100%
blocked and 1 80% so after two caths i have 5 stents
Doc says somebody was surrly watching over you because you were standing in line for the widow maker.
So even a stress test does not allways cut it.
Thanks for listening.

And for goodness sake have a merry Christmas.

A reality check for sure!  I had a medical scare back in June that at first was told would be a career ender and shooting a bow might not work out.  No where close to the journey you have just taken but it made me re-think what is important and appreciate a few things I may have taken for granted.  It's ashame that at times it takes something like this to re-focus us and get life's priorities where they should be.  Glad you took the advise and things worked out for you. I'm sure Christmas will be special this year.

Glad you discovered the problem before it revealed itself in a serious way.  Now I feel bad about not going out this morning in the o wind chill.  I'll definitely make it out this afternoon.  Good luck with the rest of your season.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Getting ready to head out for the day. Life got in the way this morning. Thanks for the well wishes all. Just pay attention to what your body tells you.

Great to hear you are doing well now, Dave. I went through the stress test part a few years ago, but everything turned out fine. They finally decided I had somehow pulled a muscle in my left shoulder area...still don't know how. It was scary though. I had many of the symptoms of a heart attack. When the nitro tablets didn't seem to help, the doc said, "That's a good sign." What a relief.

Sorry to hear you didn't get off so lucky, but I'm sure glad you caught it in time. Reading a post about you being found dead in the woods holding onto a deer drag is NOT what we want to do. Hopefully they got you fixed up, and you will be able to hunt for many years to come.

Hey David, I had the exact same thing happen in Feb of this year. Glad all is well, glad they do stents now instead of by pass.  Got to take time to smell the roses........

Dave,
Good to know you have come through that experience OK. I lost my brother a few months back to an undiscovered heart condition. He had some chest pain and was gone in a couple of minutes. You have had a lucky break, and your story might inspire a few fellow tradgangers to get a check up -- it may be just the nudge a few guys need to get to the doctor.
Thanks so much for sharing your story.

David, glad to hear you are OK. I know what you mean about getting out and doing it when you can. With my season being done I spent 4 hours out scouting in the fresh snow yesterday. I'm getting ready for the 2010 season already.
