last year was my first year to custom crest my hunting arrows, and they looked great with about 12" of spraied on white w/ black accent stripes (one to mark my exact brace heighth)until I put feathers on. The glue bubbled up and didn't hold. I scraped the paint off wear the feathers glued on to fix the problem but the were ugly. What did I do wrong?

What paint and glue work together?
also I let the paint dry for a month before I put feathers on.

I had the same problem recently with some silver paint and fletch-tite. I fixed it by letting the paint cure out for like a week before trying to glue, and I switched to Goat tuff glue----it werkd

What kind of spray paint ? Try Duco for your feathers and nocks, works great with most other products. You can buy Duco for $1 a tube at Family Dollar stores. Other places have it too but some charge $2 a tube. Did you seal over your crest with some type of clear finish ? You should seal your crest.

I use the super glue type gels...i.e. AAE FastSet Gel, Super Glue Gel, Gorillia Glue gel -- never had a problem yet with any type of arrow or paint.

Using acrylic spray paint I use Duco and it never comes loose.

Howdy...Fletch-tite and other Bohning products contain methyl ethyl keytone, which is in different formulations of lacquer thinner. It will dissolve many other paints and finishes. I've found it works well with Bohning products and bare, clean shafts. Over acrylics and different solvent based enamels I've had no problems with Duco.

Same here, when ever I use spray for my cresting i use super glues. Doesn't seem to bother the paint.

Try some Fletch Tape, it works with any paint combination. I've never used glue again after I discovered it. Alot of people don't think it's as strong as glue, but I beg to differ. I've taken feathers off after being taped on for a week or two and they left the base of the feather on the shaft. Awesome stuff, very quick, and compatible with all paints, sprays, dipping and cresting types. Once you get effiecient with it, you can fletch a dozen shafts in 20 minutes.

I'll second the fletch tape.  HOWEVER, you'll still want to put a dab of glue at each end of the feather.  Therefore, check your glue and paint for compatibility!!!
