I have been making flemish twist strings for my bows and friends for some time now, used only B-50. I usually make2 bundles strings, 16 strand for #45-#55, and 14 strand for #30-#45. I am thinking of making some from Fast flight or D-97, how many strands should it be with these. Most of my bows are between #40-#50 max. All replies appreciated.

Sam, for f.f. I would go 12 or 14 and '97, 8 or 10. I know you hunt with your bows, and probably see some rough country!

That's my opinion, find a size that you have confidence in, and shoot and shoot, and enjoy!

Building your own is the most gratifying!

For D-97 6 strands is good up to a 60# bow, 4 is good up to 40#, 8 is good up to 80#, etc.

I've settled on 8 strand D97 with the loops padded to 16 (with dacron).

This seems to be the best combination of speed and quietness that I've found.

i agree with A.S.  for all around purposes 8 st. of 97 is great.

Experiment and see what works best for you.  10-12 would be a good starting point.
