I just bought a 64" Bear Kodiak, with the following markings:

               658#
                64"
                58#

I've never seen what I assume is the serial number written with a # sign before. I assume this was made in 1966?

If it helps, this is the model immediately preceding the Super Kodiak.

Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have seen, and own a lot of Bears and that is new to me as well. Any chance we could see a pic or two?

Jeremy

You sure that's not a "4" instead of a "#"?  I've had a few that really did look like "#"

Does the riser look like this one?

I'll try and get a pic taken this morning. Mine looks like Jeremy's, except for the finish, which I'll fix if I can ever get hold of Bowdoc or Droptine 59.

UPDATE here is the riser

...and the whole enchilada.

IMO it looks like a 1966 Kodiak.

The serial number isn't like any I have seen. It appears to be roman numerals. 658II and not a # sign.

Regardless I havent seen one like it. Others with more knowledge will chime in. Nice Bow!

Jeremy there aren't many risers that look like that one-that's a beauty!

SCATTERSHOT

Yeah, I'm hoping mine will look that way after the refinish.

Bjorn, yup, the grain on that one is out of this world!

To me, your serial number looks to have the roman numeral II.  I don't remember ever seeing one like that though and I think the serial numbers were all 5 digits??  "65811" would make more sense to me.  Where's Wade when you need him.

Now that you mention it, it does look sorta like a II. Hope someone can shed a light on this mystery.

Jeremy, who finished your bow?
