I researched the Phantoms on here before season started.  This place is such a great resource for that, I thought I'd just throw in my 2 cents of experience with them for someone else.

56# @ 28" and 650gr total weight MFX carbons

I used the 220 grain Phantom SS 4 blades this year for the first time.  They have a combined cutting area of 2 1/8", which was pretty attractive to me.       :D        

I can't tell ya how happy I am with them.  Flew great, well built, great penetration and big wounds.  I killed 3 adult whitetails, blew through bones and made the worst mess I've ever seen of an off side shoulder hit.  

I did rework all the factory edges with a KME sharpener.  They were very sharp out of the box, but I just felt better reworking them myself.  

1st deer, complete pass through with ribs busted in and out.  Arrow sticking in the ground 3"  60 yard recovery and great blood.

2nd deer, complete pass through, no ribs broken, arrow in the ground and great blood.  50 yard recovery

3rd deer,  This arrow didn't pass completely through because it lodged in the heavy bone joint in the off side shoulder.   The Phantom completely separated the shoulder structure as all the tendons/ligaments were severed at the shoulder joint.  That shoulder was such a mess and so blood shot I could hardly get any good meat out of it.  60 yard recovery, great blood even with only one drain hole.

All the heads were in great shape, just needed a little touchup.  The blades are increadably stout, especially when comparing thier bleeders to other makes.

Pretty wicked head IMO, think I'll be using them for a while.            

One tip for people who shoot slim carbons with the Phantoms.

I had the bleeder back down the ferrel onto the shaft on that rib hit deer.  This was do to the shaft being so slim that it didn't provide a shoulder for the bleeder to stay put.  This can be fixed by footing the end of the shaft with a small piece of aluminum shaft.  I did that for the second two and had no problems.

Great review I absolutely love them as well. I shoot mine without the bleeder.  Devestating to a deer.  They are extremely tough head.

I always found the muzzy phantoms to be a little pretty challenging to sharpen, dont know if you feel the same? aside from that, they are deadly looking heads. shot them for a while, but didn't kill anything, although I liked the accuracy.

Muzzy sells rings to stop the bleeder blades from sliding down and into the shaft. I really like the 220gr stainless head and with the KME I get them scary sharp.

Just started using them this year. I'm using them as 200 grain 2 blade.My only problem is I didn't get a shot yet.I hope to have a report soon.

The stainless is pretty hard and definitely took more time than the Magnus II's I tried when I first got the KME.  The KME sharpener is the ticket though.  
The edges are truely frightening after using the KME.

They are wicked I love how they fly and are wicked tuff hope to hit somthin withem but gotta see somethin fist.

The new carbide sharpener that muzzy sells works pretty nice and it's fast.

I got some on the way and hope to put`m through something soon. I have killed several pigs , deer and a gobbler with the 125 grain heads in the past so I know they`ll be sweet.RC

Hey Mike we do sell a SS washer to use when shooting with the bleeder blades on the HIT type arrows as they do not have an insert shoulder for the bleeder blade to rest on and will support and keep the bleeder blade from setting back in the shaft.
The secret to sharpening Phantoms is getting the angle right as they do have a slightly sharper angle much closer to 25-30 degrees then the standard 20 degree angle of most blades.  Just use a marker to touch up the cutting edge of the blade to see where you are removing material from and adjust your angle from there. The SS is hard but not too difficult to sharpen once your get the proper angle.  And yes the new Muzzy sharpener works great and only takes a few strokes to touch them up and you can even touch up the bleeder blade without having to remove it as the sharpener will get within 1/8in of the ferrule.  Good luck!

I would also like to add, the bleeders on the Phantoms aren't your typical bleeder.  They are heavy and strong.  I consider the head a "fixed 4 blade" rather than a 4 blade where the bleeders break away or bend when hitting bone.

That's one of the reasons I like these heads.

I love my Muzzy Phantom..They do do the job...

I had a buck jump the string and take it in the ham.. Penetrated into the offleg and severed the Femoral.  almost a passthrough.  Great cut-on heads help on marginal hits! For those who have never hit the artery  before is pretty unbeleivable. You could hear the blood gushing through the wound!  I take the pointed tip off down to a tanto style and sharpen with a steel..  I fnd them easy to sharpen and I am not very good at sharpening!  Love the 220SS!
