I made a 10 strand 450+ for my 46# MAII and use a 12 strand D97 on my 52# MAIII.  Both work great (better than the 14-16 strand D97's I'd been using) but I'm not sure I'd want to go thinner on the 450+.  My Super Shrew does ok with a 6 strand of that material but it does have a bit of twang to it.  Some of that is probably the carbon in the limbs, though.  For 450+ on a Widow recurve in the 50# range a 10 strand 450+ makes a good compromise.

I'm using a 6 strand 450+ with 12 strands in the loops on my old 1967 Shakespeare Necedah.  The bow behaves very well....dead in the hand, no vibration and it shoots like a new one 8^).

I've heard too many accounts of tiny 450+ strings breaking without warning to be comfortable recommending them.  I know a lot of people have shot them for years and haven't had any trouble, but still....if it's happening to more than two or three, I don't feel safe.

Back when PENN 66 and B-75 were on the market I got called pretty much everything but smart and honest for raising questions.....until they were taken off the market.

Use it on all my bows, including a PSA 3 I have.  What a difference it makes in sound and vibration, etc.  Been using 6 strands for years without any problems.  It always amazes what the right string will do for any bow.  Can turn an okay bow into a quiet fast great bow.

What MRD said is true.  I was dacron hard-headed for lots of years after the new strings came out.
The 450+ has literally made that bow a different character altogether.  And yes, the old bows "they say" won't tolerate them, but mine says different.  Dan Quillian tried to tell me that quite a few years ago but I wasn't buying it.   Dan knew what he was talking about and was using skinny 450 strings years before they became cool 8^).

I haven't gotten any of it yet but it's on my list of material for the future.

CJC has an add in the sponsors classified section and is making skinny strings.

I have 450+, and will make a string to the buyer's specs, but only after I let them know the risk with a low strand count.  My site is under "Chek-Mate Bows" on the sponsor's list.

Well the other fast flight string materials (like D97 etc.) work as well?

LBR

I make a lot of low strand count Dynaflight '97 and 8125 strings.  8125 seems to work best for most folks, although I've got no complaints with the 10-strand Dynaflight strings I have on my selfbows.

I use 6 strand D97 flemish on my 46# bow.  It's sweet and fast with that and the string is very stable.
