Ok guys,

I am starting to feel timber hitch challenged.  The only way I can get my timber hitch to stay where I tied it is to knot the tag endright below the knot.  Otherwise sometime when I am shooting it will slip to a new position.  I use
B50 for my strings.  Help.

I sometimes have to tie a knot in the tag end also. If you have too much wax on the string(at the timber hitch) that can cause slippage too. Generally if the knot is tight to begin with it won't slip but that is not always the case.

How many wrap backs are you doing in the hitch?

If you have room put an extra lap on the tag end

I don't know what you use the timber hitch for, But when I fasten a string loop to my wheelie bow for the release I use a clove hitch which is a self tightening knot can that work?So what do you  use that for anyway?

The bowyer's knot (timber hitch) is used on the bottom bow nock instead of a second loop on the string. I find it's generaly good when you're making a bow and want the adjustability when determining the brace height.  Once I've done that though, I make a two looped flemish string for the bow and don't fuss with the knot any more.  And -- no, the clove hitch won't work -- different dynamics.

I use the timber hitch to fastenthestring on one end instead of a double loop.  I am wrapping it with three turns. I am tying it just like animateknots.com shows.  Might be able to tie third loop as a half hitch.

Nice think about tying the bottom nock is you do not have to worry about your string when busting through thickets at 3:30 in the morning.
