I just made up a batch of venison hot sticks and was wondering what you guys do for storing them? I made them out of venison burger and a hot stick mix that I picked up at Gander Mountain. I shot them out of a jerky shooter, cooked them in the oven for 2 1/2 hours at 200 degrees.

I know they need to be refrigerated, but how long will they last in the refigerator? Can I freeze some in zip lock baggies for enjoying later in the year? How long will they last in the freezer?

Thanks guys!

Kevin.

Zip lock baggies in the freezer are the ticket.  Not sure how long they might last in there - probably depends on your eating habits.
Mine usually don't last long enough  ;)

They won't last much more than a week or two in the fridge if I recall.  If you want to keep them longer than freeze and eat pretty quick after you thaw them out.

Freeze them useing a vacume bagger for long term storage and the will last a couple years.Keep the ones you are eating in the freezer using a regular freezer bag so you can get to them easy. They thaw fast because of the low moisture. jmo

Or just give some to you best friend Tim and he will help you store them!!    :bigsmyl:

share the wealth bro!! vacuum pack and freeze...they'll be fine, I split all my sticks, jerky and summer sausage into manageable portions and freeze.

Not sure on the zip lock bags though, never had good luck with those.

Make sure ya reserve a pack for the Muley hunt, LOL

Ha! You actually need to store them? I'm lucky if I get to have a couple of them before they disappear!
