Has anyone done this? I recently watched a hunting show where this guy arrowed an enormous white tail behind some houses in a development.... Are there "special" tags?  Loop-holes to getting permission from the city?  Can it be done??

Depends on the city I would assume. Around here as long as your 500 feet from houses/roads your good.  Unless you have permission from the home owner then you can be closer!

There is a group here in Minneapolis a person can join and hunt parks etc.. I have never done it, once in awhile they show someone who bagged a monster. Pretty orgainzed outfit, annual fee, have to "qualify" your shooting skills and take a course before each hunt.

I see one potential problem beyond the legalities of it. Suppose you shoot one, and it runs off and falls dead in the back yard of an anti-hunter? You will catch much grief and probably some very unfavorable publicity.!

I hunt in a city hunt in Coralville, Iowa and it is great! Been doing it for 8 years and there has NEVER been a complaint. The police are very involved and will get in the game if a deer runs off into private property. The first year the deer were dumb, but they learned fast. It takes a special license, mandatory seminar and accuracy proficiency test but it is worth it. The biggest plus here in Iowa is that we cannot bow hunt during the two week gun season, but we can continue to hunt in town where no guns are allowed.

This is the only type of whitetail hunting that I do now.  I have found that the deer are alot less pressured and have had better luck in getting permission, people hate having their nice manicured gardens being ate nightly by deer,  I shot this deer within 15 minutes of the Cleveland Ohio city limits.

We hunt here in the Ames, IA city limits as well as in Des Moines.  It works out well for both the hunter and the city.  You need to pass the Iowa DNR bowhunter safety course and an accuracy test at 15 and 20yds and then get the signature of a policeman in charge of the hunt.  Sounds like a lot of hoops, but its worth it to ensure everything goes well........and so far it has.  Been at least 10 years in Des Moines its been going on.

See, where I live it's not Metropolis, and its on the out skirts....NO HOUSES.. LOTS of unpressured deer, River Botoms. old Train tracks. I can understand NO gun hunting, But archery? why not? I lkie the Idea of passing accuracy tests and having it patroled. Just seems like a waste...

Every area will have different requirements. Check with the city and state to make sure that there are no special regulations that prohibit hunting. Your local Conservation Officer would be a good start.

Just walked in from hunting in a town of 100,000.No deer seen but saw a monster gobbler on the other side of the creek and a lot of deer sign.This has been the majority of my hunts this year due to my work schedule.It takes some getting used to the noise but it gets me hunting when time is short.

Hate too say it but the regs up here make anything in most "towns" Archery only. It's really nice to have the lake to myself while duck hunting.
