Hey guys, a quick question for you.  I'm hunting some public land here in Texas, and I'm told that hunter orange is required when any firearms hunting is allowed.  I was planning on using my ghillie, but I will have to have orange on as well.  Am I wasting my time using both together?  I was thinking of cutting some slits in the vest and pulling some of the ghillie material through to break up my outline, at least on the shouulders and chest.  

I do think it will be easier to shoot with the vest though.

Am I crazy, or is it crazy enough to work?

Check the law.  Most say uninterupted hunter orange of a certain size.

I don't think the orange will make any significant difference. I read an article not long ago that suggested deer see the orange vest in sort of a brown hue. Be still and they will still look right through you. I have had many deer check me out at close range and the orange did not seem to alarm them at all.

Thanks for the replies.  I think I'll do a little unscientific research and see what happens when I wear a light weight orange vest over my shaggy long coat.  It will keep the stuff off the bow string I guess.
