as for bait.. that's your call

I hunt mainly public lots of blm and forest service land here. But the elk unit I hunt is 80% private and can be tough. Did hunt bear over bait this year for the frist time. Deer and elk don't bait but will hunt food sources.

50/50 I joined a hunt club this year & the option of hunting private land is great (well, it would be if I could find any deer!)
Lots of good, relatively un-pressured public land around too, so I have a bit of both to play with.

Now all I need to do, is figure out where the deer are!

I'd bait if I could, but I can't, so I dont.

Luckily my family has enough land with deer on it that I hunt 90% of the time on private land. I do venture out some and hunt public the other 10%.

No baits all of are bucks are picked off trails.Never will see baits in our woods,Not even for our kids.

Both, hunted over bait alot back in WI (when it was legal)during late season to fill doe tags.  I hunt bears over bait so will hunt any other critter over bait if legal.  That being said if I'm not filling doe tags I wont sit bait.  lol I've never seen a 150+ hit bait during day light.

100% private. Gave up hunting public in Florida many years ago. Actually gave up hunting completely becuase of all the idgets on  public land. Even after walking 5 miles back in I was still being stepped on.
Now I own 20 acres surounded by hundreds of acres. I do bait.More to compete with the surounding lands owners but  rarely hunt over the bait except for hogs.Try and find the trails in and out although, admitadley I set the feeders on trails that were there already..
My plan is to keep slinging arrows after the guns start firing here in a couple of weeks. Hopefully the deer will find my little 20 acres as a refuge.

99% public 1% private. Only bait I carry is some sandwiches that brings my son back to the truck.

Wyoming is at least half public land as are many western states, so that's usually where I hunt. I do have a cache or two of private land I utilize though.  Baiting for deer, never thought of doing that, thought it is illegal. I know a few that bait for bear.

I used to hunt only private. lost that due to a death in the family that owned the land. Now I hunt mostly public.

Using bait is not hunting in my opinion.
That includes biolage etc.........

Private most of the time but do a hunt on public with family and friends once a year for a few days.

I hunt on both, private with the guys from work.    If I'm on my own, it's public land.  Baiting deer is illegal in Minnesota.
