Just wondering if most of you all hunt private or public land and do you bait. I was looking at the trail cam pics thread..lots of great animals. Most of the likes I've never seen in the woods. It seems most of the pics are in heavily baited areas.
So anyway just wonderin..

I hunt private if I can but I find myself in public woods more often. As for baiting its illegal here so that's not an option.

I try and set up my cameras on a natural food source or a heavy run. Good luck

yes public, would never hunt over bait or fence.

Both, but mostly public. Illegal to bait here, though I probably wouldn't bait anyway.

Public land here.  I don't bait but then I mostly still-hunt.  Not sure how that would work out - suppose I could leave a trail of Twinkies or Scooby snacks or something.

I don't bait for hunting but do for pictures!
It's a good way to see what's around. We stop using attractants the 1st of August, a full month before season starts.

Private my parents farm. I do not put out bait myself, but the deer do eat the crops.

I'm hunting public land down here in Texas, but I hunt the family farm up in Kansas.  No bait necessary...couple of hundred acres of soybeans, winter wheat, and river bottom full of acorns.

Tom Leemans

Private when I can, public when I have to. Bait- no.

Private land most of the time. No baiting allowed. I place my trail cams on travel routes/heavily used trails that I've seen deer and pig sign on. Usually I get pretty lucky with good pics of hogs...occasionally get good pics of deer.

I love bait. I even fish with it.

It's like 98% private land in TX so I don't do much public hunting since I got out of college and could afford a small lease.

To each his own, but I would reall really like to hunt somewhere in the midwest with the intermingled farmlands, creeks, and wood funnels.

Blackhawk

I hunt public land all the time.

Baiting for bears is now illegal in Washington, but baiting for deer is still allowed...and yes, I've done it.

I hunt both private and public.Never tryed baiting.

I'm lucky enough to have private land to hunt.  As far as bait, is a field of winter wehat considered bait?  How bout a heavy masted white oak?

Used to hunt both when I lived in Jersey. Most likely I'll do the same here in Tejas...

Baiting, nothing wrong with it. I bait with food, food scents, deer scents and sounds.

Private this year thanks to my wifes uncle...like what was said above...alot of Texas is private, so public hunting is HARD.

I bait and dont have an issue with it (hope no one else does).  To be honest, it is not nearly as easy as one might think...at least for me.  I am trying to take only mature deer and this gives me the chance to compare deer, but the mature deer sure are smart.

Both-no baiting..........nothing against it either but it doesn't really work for serious spot and stalk.
