im not sure if i can post this here, if not mods feel free to pull it.

i would like a set of sheds to use a rattling horns. i have a small set from a tiny 6 pt and the are just to small to get loud.

i would like a 8 or 10 pt. preferably. i would cut the brow tines off. they dont even need to be a matching set.
thanks again   gaff

hey gaff, if I had any....being in the same state and all ....but I'm using a small set myself.

I finally broke down and bought a ghastly plastic Primos set last weekend.   but they are way louder and more noisy than my small set.

A friend of mine shoots wood arrows and simply taps two of them together for his rattling.

Years ago Gene Wensel used to sell them.  I don't think he does any more but I could be wrong.  If you PM him he might be able to point you in the right direction.

They are always available on flea bay.  Usually pricey.  But anything is better than using plastic horns or those bag thingies.  Not that they won't work but kinda like shootin a metal riser or even worse,a compound.  ;)

Gaff, sent ya an email with some info....

There are companys that make and sell full size 10 point ( with the brow tines missing) synthetic rattling antlers that sound great. I have used them for several years and have rattled in more deer than I can remember. I rattled in a 170 class deer for my son-in-law two years ago which he took with a rifle. They cost around $25.00 or $30.00. Primos is one company and I know there are others. They are tough, too.

I have a pair of real and a pair of the synthetic and am hard pressed to tell the difference
Heard a rattle pack last weekend amd I may swing that way --- it was cool and compact

I use a small six point rack to rattle with .its compact and the deer don't get intimidated!the bags sound bad at a distance and spook deer It's easy to tell the difference!
KEEP IT SIMPLE!

Just watch the side of the road early in the morning with a hacksaw in the trunk.  I'm just saying...*

* Obviously don't do this if it would be illegal in your state.

Gaff
