I apologize if this topic has been covered before, but I didn't have any luck in the search.

I just bought a Bear Polar longbow. From all the info I have dug up, my best guess is that it is a 1954. It is 64" long, and 67#. Does anyone know the correct brace height for this bow?

Maybe that'll help some.

Right around 7" is a good place to start.  I had one that liked a little lower and one that liked a little higher - go figure!

The early 50's Bears (up to '59 anyway) all went by the traditional fistmele of 6.25-7", though I haven't found many that liked the lower end.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Judging from the guide there it looks like mine must indeed be a 1954. I had set the brace height at 7" just to try the bow out, and it seemed to be fine there, but I just wanted to make sure it was ok. 67# is definitely on the heavy side, but it's in great shape (the bow, not me) and I got a good deal on it so I went for glory. You get a good workout in if nothing else! My normal hunting bow feels like a kids bow after shooting the Polar for awhile.
