For all of you that own a Predator, is 57" the normal actual string length?  I've just ordered one and it seems to go against the norm of the AMO length of 56".  If I remember right, I made a couple that were 56" last year and they were a tad too short.  I measured string tip to tip with a 7 1/2" brace and bow is 60"AMO.

-just measured my new string from Hunters Niche, D-97, for my 58" Predator, the string measures 54". So I would assume a 60" bow takes a 56" string.

I just measured my string from Hunters Niche D-97 for a 60 inch classic and it measured out at 56 1/2 inch. when I brace my bow at 7 7/8 inches the twists do seem to be very tight and close so the string might be a tad long at 56 1/2

For what it's worth:

I made one for my '92 Predator.  Hunter's Nich said it was 60" but the limbs say 59"

55 1/4 on my jig works out about right with an endless string. 20 twists gets me into that 7.5" area.

Bringing this post back up because I just ordered and received a new SBD string for my 60" predator.  I ordered the string to be 56" based on AMO standards and that is what length the dacron string that came with the bow was.  Strung it up with new string and I'm at 8.5" brace.  Untwisted it a bit (actually about as much as I dare) and I'm only down to 8.25" brace, a long way from the recommended 7.5".  The SBD string is perfect, exactly what I ordered but for you predator owners would you recommend me getting a longer string and what length would you recommend?

Bow strung tip  to tip -- 56 5/8" long
Bow Unstrung tip to tip -- 54 1/8" long
Brace Ht. 7.5"
String Length: 57" exactly -- (moderatly twisted)

I experienced a "duh" moment when taking these measurements. I didn't realize this bow was LONGER when STRUNG -- I guess unwinding those recurve limb tips make the bow grow longer when strung?

I use a 57", D97, 10 strand string for my 60" Predator. Perfect. Although it has stretched somewhat and I have had to twist it a few times.
