Well, since moving to Texas I'm thinking of getting a good pair of snake boots. What is a good pair and how do you like yours?

DJTJR

Russell, ny far the best, others are ok for snakes but horribly uncomfortable.

First two pair I bought gave me bad blisters but third pair are fantastic. Irish Setter Wingshooter DSS snake boots. Cabelas item # kk -81-3086. Reg $269.00 on sale right now $169.00  fall sale till Nov 30th flyer says.

The wife bought me a pair of Silvis Diamondbacks, all leather, non-insulated, lace up. Very comfortable and they go all the way to my knee. Just have to wear a good pair of boot socks with them.
I never felt the need for snake boots, but she decided since I pretty much hunt alone these days she needed me to wear them. Think it has something to do with my long time hunting buddy from Georgia telling her I've been bit a few times,( 7 times between 1975 and 1987).
And by the way..... These boots do work! If not this past year would have me up to 9!
I think I need to pay better attention to where I'm stepping now that I'm getting older.
But then I've never found deer or pigs by watching where I put my feet!

I don't like used boots/shoes. Never have never will.

Im watchin this close. I wear snake boots turkey huntin during spring and in the summer deer scouting. Ive owned a pair of expensive rockies and the cheaper pair (99 bucks still is not cheap, but cheaper anyway) For me, they both ate into my ankles with the snake proof panels. I thought they would break in, but the inner padding just wore thinner and now they hurt worse and I cant wear them, at all without PAIN!! Even doubling my socks didnt help. I love my fall deer hunting boots, Danners, I guess Im gonna have to make a trip someplace that sells a different brand I can try. During a day afield I might walk 3-8 miles, I might be expecting to much from a snake boot, but rockies have never failed me In other areas.
Pick a spot.>>>>-------> Shoot straight.

All leather chippewa pull ons.  Takes a little time to brake em in,but very comfortable.
It's not the arrival, it's the journey.

Turtleskin Snake Gaiters...expensive but worth every penny. They also offer chaps and full pants.
"Neal...is this heaven?" "No Piute but we are dam close". Top of the Mtn in Medicine Bow Nat Forest.

James Wrenn

I did like Joe and went with the Turtleskin Snake Gaiters instead of boots. Not as hot and real light weight.I can wear my regular hunting boots and still have protection from snakes and briers.I am in my 3rd year with mine and can see they will be with me for a very long time.By shoppping around I found mine for less than the cost of cheap snakeboots.
....Quality deer management means shooting them before they get tough....

Stephen S

I second the Chippewa boots. Very comfortable and they look cool.
