stupid question what are pierce points and does anyne hhave pics thinking of getting a centaur with pierce points

If I ain't mistaken they were first used by the late Jerry Pierce in his Choctaw recurve and he as far as I know was the first to make them and named by him...I once had an outdoor life Magazine in the mid 90's that had a osage orange and a cocobolo recurve with the piece points in the riser...To me some of the prettiest bows have them such as Robertson and a few other bowmakers are now putting them in...Jerry was a great guy and from what I've heard and read he didn't sell his bows but gave them to some special people...It saddens me to see one up for sale cause they were given to people he cared for or liked from my understanding...All the ones he made and given away yet his was painted flat black...This told much of this man and the heart he had...God Bless, Keefer's <")))><

keefer is correct. they were first done by jerry pierce and named after him.

keefr is also correct that mr pierce was a man of the highest character, like many people affiliated w/ trad archery, past and present.

as far as i know the bwyers that do it now are centaur, rose oak, robertson, and dale dye

Here is a picture of a Jerry Pierce Choctaw that was given to John Rook.  I had the pleasure to handle this bow at Denton Hill in July of 2008.

It is absolutely beautiful.

Brandon, I've never shot one of your bows, but for sure you make one of the best looking bows out there.  If they shoot as good as they look....   I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Jerry Pierce when I was young and first joined the United Bowhunters of Illinois.  I did not even know who he was at the time.  He was a true gentleman, and was more than willing to help out anyone who was interested in listening to what he had to say.  For me...it was kinda like meeting a Fred Bear type of role model.

Here's a thought... I think Brandon, Dick Robertson and Dale Dye should see who can make the prettiest bow using Bocote and some other pretty wood choice of thier flavor in the riser and then put some "Pierce points" in them ...These bows must come out somewhere in the mid 40's in weight ...That way they won't waste a bow if they're off in weight...Now the good part, they send "Me" the bow to judge and the one that I like the most I keep for "Free" and that will be the first place winner ....The other two I'll put on the St.Judes auction ...They can put in Honor of "Jerry Pierce" on the bow and I promise to "NEVER" put it up for sale or trade....
