First day I got to get in the woods and do some hunting. Was planning all week on going after a longbeard but decided to set on stand instead. Got in the tree about 30 min before daybreak and kept hearing something in the tree beside me about 10 feet away. Curiosity got me the best of me and I shined my flash light and there was two coons checking me out, thank God they didn't get any closer or I could of got whipped. LOL
Anyway that's not even the good part. About an hour or so after daybreak and watching these two coons wrestle and carry on I heard something in the thicket. By this time the little bandits wondered off, or so I thought. I focused my attention on the thicket and a bruiser of a buck comes rolling out just piddling along and goes 30 or 40 yards past me, he piddles some more and turns back my way... The heart is pumpimg now let me tell ya. Anyway he comes my way and stops about ten yards or so from my tree and I'm waiting for a good shot as he is behind a little bit of brush, as he clears the brush I got a whole to shoot through but decide not to take it cause it really wasn't the best angle (Quarted to me a little) so he steps behind a tree and is three steps from a good shot at maybe ten yards or less from my tree when all of a sudden them daggum coons come rolling back down the hill just a squealing and fightin, the buck jumped back a few feet and checked stuff out then turned away and wondered off on his merry way.
Guess my season ain't over just yet but it sure woulda been nice to go ahead and fill my buck tag with that dude... Guess I'll just have to keep after him and enjoy my season after all  :D

Sounds like an awesome hunt!  Thanks for taking us along.
I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!

Yeah, I was kinda glad it went the way it did, now I got an excuse to go spend more time in the woods   :bigsmyl:

He is still out there then! Great start of the season when you find a shooter to hunt, IMHO.

Switching spots tonight and towmorrow till wind changes direction.

Good luck!

Went back after him this evening and it was windier than a sackfull of buttholes.
Seen a couple does but let them go hoping for Mr. Big. My patience won't hold out for real long and I'll be putting some meat in the freezer.
