Went out on my back deck this morning on my way to my tree stand. The deck was wet and I took a header off the first step. Ended up tearing my quad muscle off my knee cap. Had to crawl back into the house to have my wife call the EMT. Surgery is scheduled for this Friday to reattach tne muscle. I was told this is a three month recoup period. Worse part is I drew Iowa this year after three years. Be careful out there guys and don't take anything for granted. Have a great and safe season.

Prayers for a speedy recovery. Sorry bout your season. Jim

Thanks for your kind thoughts guys. I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason. I trust in the Lord and feel fortunate this mishap didn't happen twenty feet up in a treestand. BE CAREFUL AND STAY SAFE!

GingivitisKahn

Sorry about your season.  I hope your recovery is quick and complete.

Sorry about that freaky accident.Funny. I was looking at the deck steps down from the slope in front of my house and I've slipped on them before and I thought to myself no way, I'm going the long way down the gradual slope. Could have been me tomorrow morning.

I was released from the Hospital one year ago tomorrow, Oct 1 and then had to do IV for 6 more weeks. Missed the whole season. Let me tell you how it works out.

Tomorrow, Oct 1,  bow season starts in Illinois and I'll be out there before first light. I'm soooooo ready. And I haven't been this excited about hunting since I was a kid. So just wait until next year.

Meanwhile, get well and my best thought go to you.

I agree with you fully, and with your attitude and faith, I'm sure you will heal quickly. Prayers lifted up for a healthy and speedy recovery.

Get well soon. As far as the Iowa Tag I would contact the Iowa DNR and ask if your preference points can be restored due to the injury.
I was involved in a Motorcycle accident several years ago, the day before a Turkey hunt I was drawn for.  A few weeks after the accident I spoke with a woman at the MN DNR and she said I should have contacted them and they could have restored my points with proof of injust and inability to hunt. Not sure she was stating the truth, but it's worth a try.  You may need a note from your Doctor;)

Sorry to hear about your fall...
Here's to a speedy and full recovery.

I started reading your thread thinking that you got the buck of a lifetime on opening day. What a shock to read that you fell in such a way that caused such an injury! It is opening day here too. (I forgot to see where you hail from.) I can imagine being all hyped up and then have your season come to an abrupt halt! I hope you find a way to get out there anyway. Maybe it's a good chance to try out a ghillie!

I hope you heal quickly! And your right, it could have been worse!

Ah, your from TN! It's not opening day there. I thought I read that it was. I guess I'm a little too excited about opening day.
