Lost Creek Bows

I just finished this Lost Creek Longbow that is leaving the states for Switzerland in the morning. Its 62" 53 @ 28. The bow is Cocobolo Dymondwood and Osage limbs under clear glass. The bow is glued up like I do the new 52-54 inch N.A.T Lost Creek with multiple belly overlays. I think it gives it a nice touch, it can act as a two or three tone riser, it also has five belly overlays. What does the Trad world think, do you like the belly overlays or the standard one piece riser. Any input would be good, positive or constuctive critism would be welcome. Thanks Chad

The one plus to gluing the bow up this way is. I can change the grip from low, medium or high wrist. What ever suits your shooting style the best. Chad

That is a great looking bow Chad and the issue with the different wrist grips is a positive one...it gives the end user a little more choice and eye candy to boot!!

That is beautiful, as for woods I dont know them by name, but I like that combination.

Lost Creek Bows

This bow is a combo of Cocobolo and Osage. The bow is super fast. I shoot a easton 2117 515 grain arrow out of this 62" 53@28" bow and it shot a three shot average of 189 and very quiet and very speedy. Chad

WINDTALKER

That is one fine looking bow , the shelfs even on the correct side.

non-typical

That's a nice way to mix highlight with function. Beautiful bow.

Hi all,

To sum up, yeah    , i will be very happy to shot this awesome bow Chad just made for me.

I feel its going to be awesome to shoot such a beauty. I wanted a Cocobolo + Osage bow for ages !

By the way it will be my first US bow. I really wanted these last months to try a different style of longbow. i mean a short one ... it's not a design very common over here as we tend to use longer (66-68, and in my peticular case 72" !) bows.

So choosing an US bowyer was not easy at the begining ... I must say ... there are a lot !

(note that Pete Ward trad reviews were very helpfull to me ... thanx Pete)

The specifications were simple for me:

- "short" US bow design
- handmade
- for this time: "simple" structure (héhé: no triple UD-carbon lamination stuff !!! ^^)
- efficient
- a reasonable delivery window

My choice drove me to Chad who was really helpfull and very responsive to my request. And as i look these marvelous picture, i can say it was a wise choice.

And thanx Chad because you made this bow darn quick ! Your bow will be a nice alternative in my little arsenal - mainly Border bows by the way.

Of course will give to all feedback of my first shoots ... felling, thoughts.

oh, before leaving, if anyone shoots wood with a Lost Creek, will be glad to have advice/feedback regarding wood shaft spine selection.

I shoot a 54# Lost Creek that loves POC 60-65#

mand0ralen

thanx Billy,

60-65 seems a good spine to star with !

what Pile weight / feather combo do you use on your arrows ?

++M

billy shipp

I have the POC arrows 3 fletched with high back shield cut feathers.

The bow also shoots 2016 & 2018 aluminums very well. The 2018's are cut a bit longer to allow for spine difference.

I think you will like the bow. Chad builds a very nice shooting bow, and that is a beautiful bow you have coming.

That is some sweet cocobolo and i love the combination, you did good.

hi,

for the arrows thanx for the info about the 2016 and 2018. Got a dozen of gamegetter 500 which are 2016 if i remmember correctly. Will try them as well as POC & Spruce shafts (by the way i'm using Hilldebrandt Sitka Spruce taperred shaft -> great stuff but a lot of $$$ for shipping here !).

for the wood combination: sure the rich brown of cocobolo and the yellow of Osage mix very well. However , Osage seems to darken when growing old ... hopes the bow will stay that appealing !
An alternative would have been lemonwood but was not sure of it's physical abilities.

Anyway it's fun to have a bow that is "living" over time ... got bored of the carbon back and belly of my latest longbow ... Chad's bow will be great to shoot something "natural" again.

I think the wood combo will look even better with age.  I have an all osage lost creek, and I can't wait for it to darken up more.

Hello,

just recieved the bow today (for Swiss customers: USPS + Swisspost are a good combination ... Customs were blazing fast only 2 hours in Bern)

My findings so far:

- Very carefull package (USPS hard pack + protected bow inside)
- OMG, it's beautifull, Chad's craftmanship is excellent
- the shape is very nice, i LOOVE this heavy curve on the limbs
- it's lightweight (certainly good for handshock, looking forward to try it this afternoon)
- it's very nice to recieve a bow that is ready for shooting (nockset, string leeches, arrow rest ... it's not very common these days, so must be underlined)
- nice detail: the grip is perfect for my hand (size, shape ...): as is never met Chad, it means that HE knows HOW to make a grip ...

i'm off the the 3d range ... will post more details later.

I can't wait to hear how you like it.  I am getting ready to order one just as soon as I top off the bow fund.  I got one on trade a little while ago and love it, but it is more target and small game weight.  I can't wait to get a heavier hunting weight bow.
