Getting to be more and more pressure around me.  I may be forced to drive 200 miles north for quality hunting opportunities at undisturbed deer.

How far do you guys drive to get to good hunting spots??

the farthest is about 100 miles.but the deer are still presured there also.on some of my private land i am only one in there,or my hunting buds.public land is highly presured,especially during prerut and rut...chris

I drive 3.5 hours for a weekend hunt.SE Ohio has the best hunting in this state.

Im lucky, I have almost 1000 acres to bow hunt right outside my door.

That being said...nothing like a good hunting excursion. I would now like to reiterate IronCreek Archer.

I am just wanting to make sure I am not NUTS for my willingness to drive 3 hours to get to good territory.  There are good deer within 5 minutes of my house, however, they are really spooky and I have not got one trail cam pic during daylight hours all summer.  THanks for the input!!!

I travel from Guam to Texas every year. About 17,000 miles round trip.

With more and more lease hunting happening here in Iowa the distance keeps getting longer and longer. Soon it would be cheaper to hunt Elk and Bear in Colorado. @#@$%^^^$#@%^&   :confused:

Fort Worth, Texas to Australia would be about my limit.

When I go home to hunt my parents farm its a 2.5 hour drive...did it last night matter of fact.

It is not unusual to drive 4-6 hrs to get there and that means a 4 day trip to hunt 2 days.

I can hunt right out the back door, but in a few days I'll be taking a three-day drive, from MS to ND to hunt for 10 days. Every year I hunt a couple of times in MO, 9 hours away.

I'm a michigan hunter so when i step into the woods in Illinois on a frosty fall day and see huge huge mature deer running all over I can't even remember how long it took to get there.

I drove 16 hours to hunt SD and then 17 hours to hunt Texas. Many 350 mile trips to Kansas to chase deer...
I do know a couple of bowhunters that leave in early October to drive all the way to Prince George, British Columbia.. That has to be a three or four day drive. It took me three planes and almost 9 hours (saving hours going west)to get to Prince George.. LOL
Yeah, I'll do what it takes.  Bowhunt every chance and every place you can.

I've had to reconsider what I consider a long drive, since moving up here.  Living in or near Anchorage often means driving 4+ hours to hunt.

Yesterday I drove > hour for the chance at some Ptarmigan (we struck out, but the dog had a great time).

It will take me nearly a full day to drive up to the Haul Road Archery-Only Caribou area, but that's worth it when you can carve out the time.

I'm flying to MN for Christmas and hope to get a late season deer while I'm there.  Not technically a hunting trip but I will be > 1000 mi from home  :D

locally about 3.5 is my max for a 2day or more. Have drivin up to 12 for a couple days in the past.

Most hunting is less than 2 hour, with the majority 45-65 min. But I am going on 2 hunts this year. One in Ohio- 9 hour drive, and one in Ill. 12 hour drive....what ever it takes!! And if the budget allows.

well i am comming over from New Zealand next oct -nov to hunt so thats got to be the longest trip for hunting for me.    does that count
