Heading to ND in two weeks for a combo mule deer/whitetail hunt. I know that whitetails are generally suspicious of a pop-up that's not well camouflaged by brushing in, etc., but I don't have experience with mulies. Are they as suspicious, and should I expect to have to hide the blind like I do for whitetails? We will be hunting some alfalfa fields, and the badlands.

I'll also take a ladder stand, in case I can find a tree.

I used a Double Bull blind on my Antelope and I had Mule Deer come in to my blind and it was about 25 yards from the water hole it was set up the day before I took these photos.

That's a nice buck that's drinking. Encouraging. The one on the left might be looking at the blind.

They look at everything. The important thing is that the deer all came in with the blind sitting there. I bet the one looking at the camera started drinking a few seconds later and that the other two looked at the blind too. That's deer!

Don, Enjoy the trip to S.D. Those trees don't look very tall, and a bit sparce.  
No wonder, I was looking at what I thought was S.D. and you're heading North.

Fred, I'm all wound up! Leaving a week from tomorrow, to Joplin, MO on the first leg. I meet my buddies there and load the truck for another 18 hours to western ND. We can be hunting by Saturday morning, but I think a day or so scouting is a good idea. Our cabin has electricity, but no running water, with a "bath house" about 100 yards away. It overlooks the badlands north to the MO river, several miles away. 25-30 miles to the nearest store or restaurant. Talked to our host last night, and they've been seeing some bucks and will have some spotted for us. Chomping at the bit!!
