This works! Read about it. ALL THE HUNTERS WHO USE THIS SAY IT WORKS AND THEY WON'T GO BACK.
And I am one of them...

Hey why not? Im sure it has pros and cons just like other scent control ideas.
Thinking about it, I can remember seeing deer after I smelled smoke....when my neighbors lit the burn barrel, it signaled to me that it was almost "deer time". I could certainly smell the burn barrel, so I know the deer could...

How'd the fire start? And why do you have that bee hive smoker?   :knothead:

Me and my dad have always used smoke as a cover scent.. We will burn a little pile of pine straw and get all in the smoke before we hunt and it works quite effectively... of course they're always doing controlled burns down here in south mississippi so that could be part of the reason

I believe it may work.  My personal bowyer, Denton Forehead, once shot a very nice buck right after he caught his pant leg on fire while trying to heat his Spam sandwich.  Of course, it could have been the Spam.....maybe.

I am also guessing that smoker sales are in the tank right now, so they maybe looking for a new wrinkle.  I wonder if they give you any mirrors with that thing?

My neighbor seems to do okay by keeping his hunting overalls in the dairy barn.  UMMMMM good old rural Pa. perfume.

Very interesting. I haven't thought of this one yet. Thanks for the tip.

I would run right out and get one of those if I had some bee hives.

I always hang out around my smoker after shooting a deer.     :knothead:   Looks like I have things all backwards.

I will have to start hanging out in the shed with the smoker before I go hunting now.  What do you think would work better hickory, apple, mesquite, or alder?  I am thinking apple.

Hey what would happen if I burned some sage and let the smoke get on my hunting clothes? Would that be a good cover sent , I have lots of sage for spiritual reasons and often thought it would work for a cover sent, let me know what ya think??

I have also heard people saying the smoke sticks you burn like insense work - I am not so sure about smoke - you guys try it. Have fun!

I can barely remember some parties in the 60's where there was a lot of cover scent around.   :biglaugh:

Hmmmm interesting...is there any thought that deer, or any wild animals for that matter, associate the smell of fire with danger?

Do they have any of those wood chips that smell like beer brats cooking on a grill? I hunt a lot in Wisconsin and it's a real pain dragging a Weber out to my stand every morning.   :D

I think we have all gotten smoked out by a fire in camp and gotten close to animals the next day.  Y aknow how?  By hunting into the wind!  I think that smoke will work once or twice until the animals learn to associate the smell with danger and then it won't work so well anymore.  Skunk used to be a hot cover scent, but quickly became useless due to bad hunters.

Hey it works for pigs too.  Every time I smell smoke it is from my back yard smoker.  there is a pig in there everytime  :)

I think smoke works as well as any other cover scent...maybe a little.

The wind is everything, and we all know that deer can pick apart the wind and ID all of the scents within it. So a heavy smoke cover may give you a few more seconds to draw your bow....but it sure as heck won't make you invisible.

What I find HILARIOUS is that folks think they need to BUY something to create smoke.....

but wont you smell like a piece of jerky? I'd be hungry and looking at my arm all day!
