Bow Grip Wrap-Which One?

Looking for a grip wrap for my rose oak wildcat as it tends to slip a little in my hand with gloves on. Any suggestions here?

Can you get a SHURZ Grip on her? Basically a bike tire tube. Just roll that baby on her.

Try 3 Rivers or you can buy a bike tube cut it the length of your riser and roll it on. Black Widow puts them on their PL's and Mark Horne puts them on his Traditionalist Longbows to name a few. A few folks here also use tennis racket wrap.

I'm really partial to stitched beavertail wraps. Abe Penner sells them on his site. Believe they are $25.00 plus shipping. They come with directions.

3 Rivers sells the rubber grip as "Shur Grip" and sells them for $7.99 plus S&H. I've had two bows with them on and I love them.

My buddy uses a tennis racket grip. it is about 1" wide and it is kinda sticky. wrap on and hit the end with a dab of glue. Not a bad grip for a few bucks at the sporting goods store.

I like the Shur-grip too, for a rubber grip.

I've also used a strip of thin scrap leather (actually an old chamois cloth)and wrapped a grip. I cut the chamois about 1" wide, got it wet, then wrung out the excess water and wrapped the bow handle (rough side of leather out) before the leather dried. The dried leather then shrunk and fit very snuggly. It provided some cushion in addition to being non-slip.

You guys think the shur grip will fit on a takedown recure riser like the wildcat?

I have used them on Black Widow PSA risers, the trick is to roll it up into a doughnut shape and use a piece of thin rope or stringer to stretch and pull it over the thick spots, then roll it out over grip. I never had to use any lubercants

The other thing that works really well is cork bicycle bar tape--it's cheap, available in lots of places and many colors. Forms to your hand on a bow. Buy 1 set and it's enough to make probablyb 4-6 handle wraps.

Have you considered stippling the grip? Stippling looks good, and works great.

Tim Golder has a great HOW TO posted...do a search and check it out.

I have done 3 bows and every one turned out great.

The good thing about stippling is, if for some reason you don't like the stippling, you can still put a leather wrap on it, or use sure grip.

just ordered a sure grip and another stick on in case I can't get the sure grip to fit, but it appears it will fit if Robertfishes got it over a BW grip.

I've had many bows with rubber grips, both Shur Grips and bike inner tubes, and believe the Shur Grip (at least the older version) is the far better choice, especially for a recurve (including Widows) or large-handled longbows. It's thinner, stretchier and less slick than is bike tube. A bit of rubbing alcohol on a rag can help 'de-slick' the bike tube, but for a rubber-style grip the Shur Grip wins 'hands down'.
