Carlton, My Blacksmith that makes my Shrew Hawks for me, dropped off a knife this afternoon that I had ask him to make. It's a big knife with a 10" blade, 14 1/2" overall. He made it out of a truck spring and torch tempered it to a pigeon blue. It has a leather grip riveted on because it's going to be used as a throwing knife...among other things. It could also be used as a camp knife, chopping anything from vegetables to kindling wood.

I wanted this knife for myself (like I need another knife) but if there's an interest in a knife like this I'm sure I could talk Carlton into making more of them. Of coarse then we'd have to come up with a name....Shrew Saber?? Whatdaya think?

Kind of like a Hudson Bay design.

How about The Shrew Woodsman? A knife that big can do lots of chores...brushing in blinds, chopping kindling.....opening gates  :knothead:

It's a winner, Ron.
It looks like an old-time fighting/working knife from the frontier era, back in the days when a strong knife could mean the difference between life and death.
You have a darn good blacksmith. Love the file detail work.
I have an old GI Cattaraugus knife that is a heavy-duty tool like that. Darned useful tool.

I like The Shrew Woodsman as a name for a heavy working knife like that. It is a good, honest and very descriptive name.
Like I said, it's a winner.

Just think how much better shape your gate would be in if I had that Shrew Woodsman blade rather than a sledge hammer!!! My logic is flawless!!!  :smileystooges:

The Shrewd, as in a shrewd hunter could find many uses for such a blade.

Agreed, it would be useful for numerous applications.

I like Shrew Saber.  The Romans conquered their known world with swords not much bigger than that.
Don't meddle in the affairs of dragons; people are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
