Had to switch to my old backupbear kodiak magnum. It is the green model made in the early 70's. It has amo52" written on the bow. I put a 48" new string on it and it shoots great and quiet. I was concerned because it braces at 8 1/2" Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I did the same thing. After a while it stretched down to 8" but is barely twisted. Shoot fine though. I guess next time i'll order a little longer one.

That's the right length string and the right brace height for the KMag.

Good to know. Maybe i will give mine a few twists.

Sounds about right. I used to brace mine at 7.5", but raising the brace to 8 quieted it down a lot, and it shoots sweet. Shot my '68 last Sunday, made me wonder why I have all those other bows.

Me too Killy, got to feeling sorry for ole Fred hanging up there on the wall so got him down and dusted him off. Mine is a 56" 1969 Grizz @ 55#. Even shot some old cheap woodies I had and seemed like I could not miss, at least that day, haha !!!

Thank you all. I will use the K mag until I get my other bow back from some repairs. The ole griz does feel good in my hand again. Bought it in 1974 as a graduation present to my self.same time everyone else was just making the switch to those otherthings with the wheels.
